I work in an industry that is primarily male, or at least the corners I've chosen to work in. My gender does play a factor on how I get along with my male coworkers but it is not the only factor. There are times being the Smurfette is a big advantage but if I let that go to my head, men will attack me in a way that they think it will hurt. To avoid this, I treat men like normal people and don't try to manipulate them. Most men adore me like a sister. Some just treat me human. Others don't like that I am a woman. We are coworkers in a competitive field, you have to learn to like the taste of a shit sandwich and appreciate any goodwill handed to you.

I don't disagree. It's tit for tat, really. I don't like the idea of segregated work places based on gender but I can easily say that some people can't handle nor respect the current status quo.
