Pick-me women / #NotLikeTheOtherGirls General

I mean, I can understand not wanting your children to grow up in poverty. And I understand if you're a woman looking to have kids, how it would seem practical to seek out someone who has a well-paying career ahead of them. It's definitely very, very hard to maintain happiness if you're constantly struggling to get by.

But money isn't enough. So many adults underestimate just how perceptive children are to the things going on around them. Children also tend to internalize and personalize the unpleasant things happening around them, especially if these things involve their parents. Most people also don't realize just how much of a mindfuck it is to be raised by two parents who hate each other but refuse to split up "for the kids' sake." Divorce is pretty hard on kids, but I can't imagine that it's worse seeing nothing in their immediate vicinity but two adults with no love for one another, especially when this misery is justified by (which to a kid basically means faulted on) the existence of the kids.
You’re absolutely correct, I’ve dealt with the same thing growing up too. A switch between poor to middle class just changes people. I’m dumb, young, and gullible but I still think true love is still out there despite how bad things are all the time.

Money often smooths out all the angry folds that accumulate when you're poor. Since you aren't constantly trying to keep your head above water you have a greater capacity to be generous and kind to others. This is why moderately well-off people can be so nice. Too much money and influence, however, and you become isolated from the rest of the population. All things in balance, as usual.

There's a little bit more to it about having money, "smoothing out the folds" and having capacity to do something, or be nicer.

I'd say it's also the self-realisation that it's more about establishing what you actually need in life to enjoy it, opposed to the belief things get better because you can afford something more expensive, travel somewhere more exotic etc.

People set their sights on getting the thing, not getting the expected result so then persue next thing, same outcome though builds further frustration, disappointment, resentment towards the people they have acquired in their life because they perceive them as a thing that was supposed to improve their lives.

It's why we see the "dead" marriage, neglected kids or increasingly rates of mental issues in singles within the last two generations in particular, as those have been raised in said environments, brought up with this as an internalised baseline way of living and then go down the same route.

Were you ever the pudgy awkward guy that hung out with more chicks in school than dudes? If so… the highlights of this thread (at least up to page 24 where I tapped out) should bring back tons of uncomfortable memories of chicks being catty with one another at the lunchroom table.

I’m just saying: dudes will call each other faggot, asshole, douchebag, or whatever and chicks looking from the outside in are wondering why alleged friends are so mean to one another. At the same time: at least I know for a fact that my buddies say all that shit to my face.

As a guy looking from the outside in: chicks insulting one another don’t carry anywhere near the same energy. Guys insulting one another amounts to “quit being a faggot” before dapping one another out. Chicks insulting one another amounts to “I do not like this woman, I am too much of a coward to tell her that to her face, so I will engage in psychological warfare instead.”

Anyway, I’ll quit posting and go back to lurking.

Isn’t tooth decay during pregnancy a myth?
Nope, it doesn't happen to all women but it's one of the many risks of pregnancy since it leeches calcium from your bones. Especially repeated pregnancies close together.

Idk if that's what happened to this chick but I wouldn't be surprised.

Well those are the risks of giving life, what else can be said.

Which is why it's something no one should be forced to do and everyone should be aware of the potential risks. I know tradthot MrsMidwest learned that the hard way and toned down the "every woman should have as many kids as quickly as possible!" horseshit after two back to back pregnancies almost killed her.

She's also married to a manlet cop thats been investigated for police brutality and looks like the adult version of Calliou.

Yeah if your teeth are falling out, that’s about time to call it quits on having a larger family. In the old days you had so many kids because most of them would just die off and you couldn’t really say no to your husband.

The old days the saying was that you lost a tooth for every child.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Duggars have spent $$$$ on dental care for Meech. Same with other quiverfull fundies where the wife has shat out a ton of kids. Maybe that's what JillRod spends the money she gifts on instead of feeding her kids?

Isn’t tooth decay during pregnancy a myth?
No it’s not a given but it does put strain on the system and if you’re low in calcium it’ll come from your bones and teeth. Babies take what they need and if it’s not in your diet it’s coming from you. Funnily enough the normal sized mass of fat in a decent pair of hips and thighs (not American fat, normal fat) is about eh extra needed to sustain a pregnancy.
there’s a condition called hyperemesis where you are sick constantly when pregnant. Not just morning sickness but dozens of times a day for up to nine months. Kate Middleton had it at the start although it seemed to ease up halfway. Women still tend to have normal sized babies even if they’re losing a lot of weight or can keep almost nothing down. . They often end up losing a tooth or two.
It’s by no means a given with a healthy modern diet but if your nutrition was and is marginal the baby will take what it needs from the support structure (your body.)
There’s actually a whole field of biology looking at resource competition and partitioning in reproduction
