Fanfiction Horrors

ABO is weird, anus and vagina are treated as interchangable when it comes to omegas. Like a male omega would basically have a vagina instead of an anus, it self-lubricates and everything, and nobody really wants to actually address where the hell they shit from. So it might actually be an anus technically in that fic. I couldn't really figure it out from the excerpts you posted. Adding troonisms to ABO just makes an already-confusing anatomy even more inexplicable.
The only answer I can think of is that every omega has a cloaca.

Omegaverse is simply unreadable. Especially if it's an AU of an existing IP. Even if you ignore the retarded biology of it all, the strict social boxes that characters are put into erase any sort of defining character traits. This leads to cookie-cutter big dommy / smol babby uwu relationship dynamics that are basic and uninteresting. No matter how many times it's done and no matter who it's done to, it just feels like you're reading the same story.

There is a fanfiction I keep thinking about. It's not shocking, like the other stuff in this thread. It's not about some real ass people or some fucked up fetish. But I think it sticks with me because it's a sort of time capsule, or a documentation of a mental parasite. A showcase of an author starting out with a solid idea, and then letting the brainworms of tumblr politics infect their own story.

It starts out well enough. A homestuck fanfic, where a lusus decides to raise a human being. (To anyone that has not read homestuck and does not care, trolls are the aliens of the comic, and lusus are big alien animals that raise trolls instead of a normal parent/child relationship.) And in the beginning it feels like it's going to stay that way.

But slowly, the cracks start emerging. Oh, the trolls, who live by a species wide eugenic system, think human racism is stupid! Oh, the human that is racist against the trolls appearing in a school play is off her meds! You slowly start seeing this happening. A genocidal alien society slowly trying to deal with their own system and the smaller species under it is transformed into a black and white allegory for racism, with humans being put in the worse light despite all logic.

And then comes the MAGA chapter. Which was funny, because it was written right after the election. It's so drenched in that time period. So stupid in every way imaginable.

The story never recovers. It eventually devolves into a story about rayciss whyte folk trying to keep innocent bipoc families apart like fascists. Love is love!

And it all culminates in this Roe V Wade ass trial where the crocodile is put on trial in the stupidest scenes imaginable. With this puppy kicking senator who was brought to life from the mind of the most neurotic california wine mom in history trying to take the daughter away from the crocodile and back to the mother who abandoned her, or the father who abused her, because... he needs to protect the nuclear family?

I think about the story this could have been, if the writer never went on tumblr. We never got that story, and we never will.

Some ABO stories will have a Chapter 0, or a long author's note, that explains how their ABO anatomy works. There are tags to specify too, things like "Male omegas have vaginas" and "omegas are intersex" and so forth, boxing the compass genital-wise.

No matter how many times it's done and no matter who it's done to, it just feels like you're reading the same story.
I've seen a couple of ABO stories that used the trope in interesting ways--I gambled on them because I recognized an author, so there are probably more decent ones out there that I scrolled right by because of the tags.

I think it's possible to do the original Star Trek thing and use fantasy sexism to subvert real sexism and recontextualize canon relationships etc. etc. While that's possible, I concur that it usually is just slavery, OOC and dog cocks spewing jism all over the place.

I heard that there was a Korean (?) fanfiction trope that was equivalent to ABO, the names being along flower lines with "stamens" and "pistils" (not hanahaki). I don't know enough to know if it's an offshoot or independent invention.

If you're looking for the most stereotypical pooner fics there are, look no further than the Trans Male section on AO3. It has now grown to 73k fics (as of this writing) and leaves the Trans Female fics (at 23k) in the dust. This is across the entire site, so any kind of fandom you can think of, there's a pooner in there. Some of them just straight up write essays on how they hate their breasts. Example below.

This fic does not allow comments and cannot be viewed outside of AO3, but not to worry. It's short enough that I screen-capped the entire thing.

Late AF, since I only lurk in this thread occasionally, but Rice_Krispie is PixyTeri, an infamous cosplay cow that has pooned out and was recently in the hospital for severe mental illness. She has a thread here

She currently skinwalks Sora from Kingdom Hearts and wrote Sora/Roxas watersports yaoi that was linked to in the thread. She deleted them shortly before being placed on psychiatric hold. Here is a post that discussed some of that and some of her other breast hating/stomach penis thrusting ramblings.

Yeah, I've read exactly one (1) good omegaverse fic before, it was on the Metal Gear Solid kink meme and to my knowledge never got moved to AO3/another site or even completed. The author did a good job of keeping everyone IC within the framework of the story, and was able to do some interesting stuff with the concepts. Of course, they did treat being an omega as a kind of freaky body horror type situation, so that helped.
Honestly, I really don't think doing that would be that hard. Plenty of fics out there are AUs which massively diverge from canon in ways that would significant impact characterization, usually bc the characters are given a completely different background. Like take a franchise that takes place in the modern day real world and write an AU where it's medieval high fantasy instead. People can and do do that and keep everyone in-character. There's no reason why this couldn't be done with omegaverse as well.
Omegaverse authors just don't give a shit.

I've read a lot of AOB in my life, enough to tell you that normal women just use it as a way to write quick porn without thinking about a deep plot or they just want to see their favorite male characters behave sluttily. and in the worst case scenario, make them suffer a little by writing them as someone weak. On the other hand, the aob (or anything that includes a troons) written by tif is a very uncomfortable read where she takes it to ridiculous extremes that make past characterizations of the "effeminate and delicate uke" better written and performed. All these Tif fanfics are just the female fantasy of wanting to be tied up, spank and somewhat humiliated in the pure "50 Shades of Grey" style, only much worse written, and that's what these pooners hate being women with straight woman fantasies .
I have a lot to say about AOB and Mpreg and the like, but I don't want to derail.
There's no reason why this couldn't be done with omegaverse as well.
Omegaverse authors just don't give a shit.
Exactly, it's as if aob and any type of AUs bring out the laziest part of these fanfic writers who don't know how to handle an ooc correctly and don't want to delve into the behaviors of the characters they write.

I actually miss the days when mpreg fic had extremely mysterious anatomy that strongly implied if not outright stated that the babies came out the ass. Nowadays you can't hardly find any mpreg that isn't just a pooner getting knocked up. (:_(
I miss the same thing, they were simple times. I don't understand how the aob was filled with so much troon shit, seriously, not even the classic mpreg reached the level of shit of the troon genre with tifs

Going back to Fanfics at hand, here's another funny pun-titled fic that has not fun content:

And not even AO3 profiles are safe from the FREE PALESTINE trend:

Wouldn't Sailor Moon, BanG Dream!, and Precure all be considered non-Halal content though?

I've previously had a woman try to convince me that all this omegaverse shit is misogynistic, despite being written by and for women. There's just no winning with some people.
Y'know, depending on the fic, I could see where she was going with this. A shitload of omegaverse fic tries to allegorically promote feminism by making the omegas analogous to women. Omegas get descriminated against in ways that are unstubtle and exageratted (comically so, and without any apparent awareness of how exagereratted/comical it is from the author) depictions of misogyny. However, by the end , the fic still has the omega be biologically hardwired to tearfully beg their alpha to rape some babies into them. So by trying to include some feminism by making the poor oppressed omegas a metaphor for women and how we live in a society, etc, they end up positing that all women are fundamentally and inescapably nothing more than breedable little sluts who cant truly ever say no to their man (read: yaoi alpha).
This is because every fanfiction author who decides that what their dog cock mating cycle buttbaby slashfic needs is social commentary... is retarded.

I think it's more because all these authors really, really, reaaaaaally want some dick.

There’s been talk about in this thread about how AO3, and I think fanfiction.net, is one of the last bastion of freedom on the Internet just based on how there are next to no moderation on what gets put up on those sites. How do we know that’s the case, though?

Almost everything on those sites are either normie autism tier, Marxist propaganda, or involves explicit sex. Of the normie stories, I can count on one hand stories I’ve read from start to finish that I sincerely liked. Even then, they’re blatantly not right-leaning. At best apolitical. Even older stories I’ve read are really just crappy Edgy McEdge Edge fanfics that no sane person would associate with today.

Big Tech companies went on a successful purge of conservative media from social media because their reach was powerful enough to give Donald Trump the election in 2022. Right-wing artists are as rare as the vaquitas (a soon-to-be extinct type of whale in the Gulf of Mexico) and I’ve yet to come across a fanfic story that pushed traditionalist themes without a hint of sarcasm.

I’m curious to see what would happen if someone posted a politically incorrect story that gained traction. Would A03 and Fanfiction.net buckle under pressure of the woke mob or do the administrators and moderators have the balls to stand by principles they claim to have?

FF.net is absolutely not. AO3 is good because you can download from it, but otherwise the only think I've heard for it is it's "run by lawyers."

It’s interesting just how little we know about who runs either of those websites, especially AO3. AO3 is one of the top 100 websites in the world yet I couldn’t tell you any identifiable information about who runs it. Considering what’s been allowed on AO3, if these truly are lawyers committed to free speech, they have to be libertarians to where it makes pre-2020 Null blush with embarrassment.

AO3 is run by people who are turbo autistic about "transformative media", ie. fanfiction and other fanworks. In the past there have been legal threats to this and even actual lawsuits (though generally fanfic is legally considered parody/fair use) so AO3's parent org, the Orgnization for Transformative Works lawyers up to ensure that franchise owners can't nuke fanworks from the internet. This is why AO3 is incredibly strict about profiting off of fanfic. Even dropping a paypal link in your author's note or even in the comments section for some unrelated e-begging can get your entire account banned, I think. At the very least I know that they can and will take your fic down for that. That's why you very rarely see people mention when a fic was commissioned, and if it is mentioned then there are often people in the comments warning the author to delete all reference to taking comms. It's also why AO3 doesn't host ads - the OTW can't/won't profit off of fic, either.
AO3 is basically the only space on the internet that's free of crowdfunding or e-begging as a result. And I can't really speak to how political the OTW is outside of their specific lawyer shit (I don't use any of their other sites besides AO3), but the moderation on AO3 itself is remarkably apolitical. A large part of this is the fact that anyone who tries to campaign for one of their elections (the administrators I think are elected) on an actually political (inevitably leftist ) platform is viewed with suspicion. There was a recent campaign to eliminate alleged racism on AO3 that crashed and burned hard because the assumption everyone had (and that later turned out to be true) was the candidate in question wanted to ban certain topics of fic - underage, incest, rape, etc. in the name of progressive morality.

AO3 users, whether or not they actually like or want to read/write that kind of"dead dove" content, generally understand that if they let it get banned then sooner or later something that they do like will also be banned under similar reasoning. Certainly a lot of people who shit bricks at the concept of a fictional teenager having sex will rail against ships between adult characters if one of said characters is short/petite and therefore "minor-coded". And don't even get me started on the truly whacky definitions of incest I've seen. I personally witnessed people get death threats (on tumblr and twitter, not AO3) for shipping characters who had a "brothers-in-arms" bond because some lunatic thought that meant the characters were literally brothers.
Basically, the slippery slope is VERY real when it comes to fanfic. So AO3 is pretty motivated to not let anyone take the first step.

Edit: Also, in terms of "politcally incorrect" story - most stories are just plain not political, and the ones that are are almost never popular. Having a gay ship doesn't make a story political. Though I will say that most of the trans fics are in fact pushing an agenda.
I do know of one fic series, a genderbend AU, that strikes me as TERFy/gender critical, but nobody in the comments ever brings it up and the author never says anything to that affect. The series does seem to be slowly gaining popularity in that particular fandom, though.

Honestly, the parallels between AO3 and here seem strong.

Intellectually I know that the price of freedom is written shotacon. The hard part is knowing this and also having feelings about it.
