On one hand we have Windows retards fantasizing that Linux is more complicated and difficult than it is,
It becomes increasingly frustating hearing winfags repeating ad-nauseam this shit and the fact that "Windows just works" when it's the same operating system that can reinstall older versions of your AMD drivers even though you installed them via the official installer or about the fact that it's extremely difficult to fully remove Edge or even completely uninstall applications cleanly (you need Bulk Crap Uninstaller for that shit, a third party app to do something that Windows uninstallers still fail to do in 2024).
This guy has made an extensive list on how much Windows 11 sucks: winfags must realize that the Windows that used to work is dead and no one will ever revive it.
Give me my tophats, please and thank you.
EDIT: Oh and don't forget that Windows has become perpetual beta software and an advertisement platform disguised as an operating system.

I swore off Windows Update ever since Windows 98 broke my graphics drivers. It's always been crap.

Two Control Panels with absolutely zero thought given to how they differ and why each one should be used.
I always laugh when I encounter this on Windows, it's so utterly ridiculous.

I'm brand new to Linux, been around 3/4 weeks since I installed Nobara and starting messing around with it. Tbh, 9/10 times I start my pc up I boot onto Linux, the 10th time being when I want to play a game I can only play on windows.

I really enjoy it, it's been fun getting used to a new system and learning how to use it. Using shell to download software is so cool, and general browsing/note taking/media watching/etc etc is very nice on linux. I don't know why, maybe just the UI? (I'm on Gnome)

I've been switching over to FOSS for a while, and I was pleasantly surprised that almost everything I use works way better on Linux than windows!

Overall it's been really neat and I'm glad I put in the effort to get it set up. I have an old-ish laptop that I'll be making into a dedicated Linux machine :)

Dude, instead of spending the time to install a new OS, hoping you like it, just get a live image, burn it to a flash drive and play around with it. There are live images available for several Linux flavors, but here is a good starting point. It will run on damn near anything and shows off a pre-loaded Debian system with several desktops that you can switch at any time.

Oh, Linux is not a simple OS that "just works" and no one can expect it to "just work" and get help when they run into issues? Weird, about every single Linux shill I've seen always suggested this to make me abandon Windows in the name of the FOSS glory, which tells me the exact opposite with all the friendly and inviting flavor texts.

Maybe don't get mad that people treat Linux like a Windows replacement if half of the Linux community shills it as exactly that.
I will say from personal experience that I've had less issues so far on Linux then Windows on my personal PC as of recent, with my only issues being with Wayland, some of which recently got patched. I think the only exception to this is when I have that one specific game from the late 2000's that is fucky even on Windows, that is a pain to set up. Or a mod (STALKER Gamma to be precise, "devs" are fags btw) that uses powershell exclusively to pull mods and install. This can be very annoying and I'll just switch to my duel boot if I can't get it to run. Sometimes I'll even have exclusive bugs on games that my friends on Wangblows don't have. I know some audiophiles that also despise fucking with pulseaudio, but it seems pipewire is taking over the market since it's easier to work with (from my experience at least).

Granted I did research on my hardware to see how well it played nice with Linux. My last PC DID NOT like Linux and was a hassle to get installed. This time it was the opposite. Linux isn't perfect but I'll take it over modern Windows. Personally I still miss Windows 7, my all time favorite OS.

I wouldn’t call myself an audiophile, but I haven’t had any problems whatsoever with sound on Linux since I switched to pipewire, so I’ll second it. Pulseaudio wasn’t as bad as ALSA, but it still kept having issues. My sound setup, by the way, is just AirPods Max over Bluetooth, so it’s not like I’m doing something very complex either.

Though, that something so basic as sound can still cause issues for Linux desktop daily driver is another point in favour of MacOS, which just works. Which is weird since that’s built on entirely archaic BSD ALSA.

Snaps are going to have them confused as to why half the apps run like shit.

Speaking of Snaps...

I dualbooted when I first began using Linux as well and did that for many years until Proton took off and all the games I play worked on Linux. If you're a cutting edge or MMO gamer I'd keep the Windows system just in case because Linux support can lag behind and many games still aren't supported. (Lost Ark devs flat out refused to implement changes to allow anti-cheat on Linux. Which is their right of course, just pointing out that Linux gamers are still second-class citizens and even with corps like Valve investing in Linux support games aren't guaranteed to be available to us.)

7 has a soft spot in my heart too. That was a good system.

It's been a long time since using Windows but I'd say the number of problems I've experienced on Windows and Linux were about the same, just different in nature, so it was really a tradeoff in terms of what problems I prefer to deal with. Windows had a lot more performance related issues and that bothered me more than the occasional Linux spazzout.

The real reason I prefer Linux isn't because it's problem free but because it has capabilities I appreciate that Windows does not. I use the terminal daily to do a variety of things that wouldn't be easy to do on Windows. Linux feels like/is a proper tool I can use to get what I want done, whereas Windows felt like dealing with an opaque bureaucracy that made its own decisions about what I was and wasn't allowed to do and I loathe it. Again it's about what you want to do with your system. The things I do are far easier (or even possible at all) on Linux than Windows so naturally I'm more happy with it.

STALKER Gamma to be precise, "devs" are fags btw
To be more precise, it's singular "dev", and it's a French faggot that goes by the moniker of Grokitach. His "mod" is just a collection of stolen Anomaly addons from ModDB, which is why to even get his mod you need to join his faggy Discord server. And also because he has the ego the size of the fucking Sun, and will shittalk any STALKER mod that's not his just because it's not his.

I only ever looked at that server once, and once I saw that to install this modpack you need to run his special tool, and you need two dedicated partitions for some fucking reason, I said "fuck it" and didn't give into the hype. And it's good that I didn't because Old World Addon is just better. And there are other mods besides Anomaly worth playing.

Fuck Grok and his Tarkov in STALKER mod, he's the second worst thing that happened to STALKER right after the war in Ukraine.

Windows never deprecates admin tools for some reason. I'm pretty sure the advanced networking options in the control panel is straight from Windows 2000.

They did rewrite them to all emit PowerShell commands since the administrative backend of Windows is unified on that now. Windows is in a weird place where you'll only have full control of it if you know obscure PS commands to do what you want.

Pipewire is nice since I can use software patchbays to choose how to route different audio sources which is very difficult/impossible in pulseaudio from my experience. Plus it plays nice even with pavucontrol so it's a plus for me.

That would work for a gif file or a bitmap but not a png
No, child. You are mentally ill. I created a PPM file and converted it to a PNG with ImageMagick. I literally did it to check behind myself (just at 1x1 resolution though) after I posted it. And it worked. This constitutes felony failure to properly read what I just posted, and you will be enjoying prison shortly.

On a more serious note, PPM is cool and it allows for funny shit like that due to its extreme simplicity. You should check it out.

Try the following:
Code:
printf 'P1\n30 7\n000000000000000000000000000000010010100111000111001111011100011010101000001000001000010010010110101011001011001110011100010010101000101000101000010010010010100111000111001111010010000000000000000000000000000000' > haha.pbm && convert haha.pbm funny.png

You can find 3.1 icons and menus in some of the deeper recesses of Windows 11.

Microsoft uses the excuse of "backwards compatibility" but that sounds like complete bullshit. A lot of these leftovers have nothing to do with backwards compatibility and are instead either visual or straight up superfluous stuff. Most people who need such old tools tend to be just using old PCs not connected to the internet instead of modern PCs.

And even if they are for some reason using some ancient software written in 1997 on Windows 11 there is no excuse such a big company which has a de facto infinity money glitch going from the amount of users and customers they have to not updated and at least made it so the entire OS has a single consistent look and feel to it.
