The Swifties - A New Age Religious Movement Revolving Around Taylor Swift

I’m personally very excited to see what happens when this thread gets out of PG. Taylor Swift fans on social media (Twitter) have a reputation for being rabid doxers, but being brain-damaged zoomers I suspect their methods are less sophisticated and thorough than the ones used on this site.

My money is on the “Swifties” discovering this thread, throwing a shitfit and trying to dox Null/OP/random posters, and getting felted by the KF userbase’s focus on OPSEC and resilience to empty threats.

To be fair, we've had people on this site get doxed just because they decided to stick their dick out into other niggas DM's and see where it goes.

I think we need a thread on Beyonce’s Beyhive, too. I know I’m looking forward to adult black women dressing like they’re going cattle wrasslin’ and then to Wednesday night line dancing at the local Boot Scootin‘ Boogies.

I think it's sweet that we have a proper big name popstar that people can rally behind and obsess over again even if she's kind of bland. As dire as it is, Swiftieism is probably the closest thing we've had to a real cultural touchstone in a while. Would be nice if she stopped flying that private jet everywhere though. It's kind of a bad look.

Lana Del Ray is better.
Any random 90s alt-chicks like Juliana Hatfield, Dolores O'Riordan or Edie Brickell is better. At least they were hot and their music genuinely was pretty good. Not perfect, but I can understand the appeal of their music versus that of Taylor Swift or any modern female pop artist.

I don't mind having a cultural touchstone. I just wish it wasn't over someone so genuinely bland (and from all the personal stories about her, a bitch) and started by a mass of BPD spiritually white women. I'd want a band like Rush, Joni Mitchell, The Cranberries, Pantera or even Nirvana to be the representative of this time in history. It at least won't make us out to be retarded valley girls with vapid thoughts and even more vapid tastes.

The idea of human NPCs is a meme, but these people are proof that there's a sizable chunk of the human population with little or no conscience. I think when these people live a life that's a little too easy, at some point the conscience shuts off and this happens.
She makes music for people without an internal monologue.

I have absolutely zero clue how Swift grew such a rabid, passionate following. It’s kinda unsettling to see considering just a couple years ago you’d mainly remember her for her dorky love songs from the early 2010’s. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a celebrity have a comeback that was so lauded.

Also her music sucks and every single Swiftie I’ve met is fucking obnoxious and has an average iq of 85.

Her white chick fanbase doesnt have much else to grab onto that look like them. Its her or the current negress du jour.

To the idea of how Taylor Swift got so popular, I've had a general theory lurking in my head. I briefly dated a girl who moved to the west from China, and she had basically no pre-prior North American culture knowledge, since she was no westaboo and just moved to North America for the better life outcomes.

Anyway, so she got a car, and it had that fancy Apple Carplay integration, and she started using Spotify as the radio in the car (never having used Spotify before).

Well, Spotify just pushed Blackpink and Taylor Swift (the old hits like "You Belong with Me") nonstop to her, and it formed her music tastes for her. So suddenly a random Chinese girl whose prior music preference was entirely Chinese music was now a big Blackpink fan despite never being into Kpop before, and she was a fan of Taylor Swift.

I think that happened with a lot of women. I've never used Spotify because I'm autistic as fuck and the idea of Spotify and your lack of full control always seemed stupid to me. But I know I'm in the minority based on coworkers (since all my friends and family share my autism).

I haven't explored this theory too much, but random reddit posts have examples of people noticing Taylor Swift's music being pushed on them in Spotify.

As an observation, the musical theme of the songs that were pushed to the girl I knew all revolved around a general concept of "I want love / I want you boy / stop playing and love me" (As if it's your last by Blackpink, You belong with me / Love Story by Taylor Swift, etc).

And that theme really resonated with her, and I'm sure it's the main resonance with "swifties" given its almost entirely females within a certain age demographic. I'm sure there's a much deeper thought exploration on this, whether it's because of feelings and desires mostly felt within a certain age, or whether it's because of cultural experiences and changes the older demographic wasn't privy to. But I digress.

TL;DR Spotify has pushed Taylor Swift onto countless NPC women who latch onto her due to their lack of agency otherwise and the themes of her music resonating with them

This is an interesting theory. Corpo pushed content only goes "viral" because corpo makes it so. By pushing it into your feed 24/7 hoping you will just break down and consume it. The average normie will be curious enough to check it out. Then boom! Your feed is suddenly full of 10x the amount of that stuff and you just go with the flow.

Very interesting info.
Now I'm wondering why her, of all the people. If Spotify can prop up anyone to become The Next Big Thing™, why Taylor Swift?
the idea of Spotify and your lack of full control always seemed stupid to me
While I see where you're coming from, the algorithm is a valuable tool when used to discover artists pertaining obscure musical genres. I'm very fond of it.

The same can be said for YouTube too. Ever wonder why you get recommended certain channels that you have no interest in and the moment, out of curiosity, you click the vid and soon you are inundated with vids by that artist or content creator? It is because corpo are trying to push them and their brand as the next big thing. As for why Taylor Swift rose to such prominence over numerous other female artists, I think it is because the entertainment industry wanted something they can market to white girls and women. White females make up the majority of the population in the West. I can see why the industry would try to appeal to them and market to them. Taylor Swift does come across as very marketable. Out of all the female pop stars out there she was probably the best choice to prop up.

It's a valuable tool when you know what you are looking for to a reasonable degree. For example, if I find myself listening to a lot of 90's female fronted rock bands like Belly or The Breeders, it's not a stretch for the algorithm to recommend me other 90s female acts like Julia Hatfield or Sheryl Crow. Same thing if I listen to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, it recommends me Rush and Genesis. All these acts while not the same are generally similar in the type of music they make (at least in their corresponding examples).

It also can form opinions for a person that is less conscientious of what they listen to (i.e. retarded normalfaggots, but I repeat myself), which is most people. Hence why random ass channels are pushed to the top and memes about it are formed and not even two weeks later, it's old news. Basically, braindead NPC women listen to Taylor Swift because some music exec pushed for her music to be promoted by Spotify, love her music and now she's being pushed in every form of media at all times to keep up her relevance and her earning potential in addition to propagandizing stupid women to vote for the Democrats.

Swifites are annoying, don't date one, don't be friends with one, and don't even look at one. They have somehow become a worse group than Pop Punks or Mumble Rap retards, that it baffles me as to how it can outmatch those two genres in sheer annoyance and stupidity. She's just another dime-a-dozen celebrities that have all this money from doing their thing and people just put them on a pedestal for no reason.

I am fairly well-versed on the subject of the Taylor Swift phenomenon and her fanbase because I find it utterly fascinating, and it's impossible to avoid if you're even marginally connected or following the music industry. Luckily, these people are incredibly entertaining despite their obnoxious traits, and Taylor Swift herself may seem bland from a distance, but if you have an interest in celebrity publicity and how to create cognitive dissonance in your audience through image building, look no farther than her. The way the entire industry, including publications and critics, are bending backwards for her is a sight to behold. Dig a little deeper from the surface, it's worth it even if you don't personally give a shit for her music.

The impact she's having on vinyl records and predatory tactics has single-handedly ushered the physical music industry into a whole new era, I'm not exaggerating. She's completely changing the game for the worse in a way that I can't help but appreciate. She had already released 1989 in four different variants that were supposed to only be available for 72 hours each to create a false sense of FOMO, but the release of the extremely pretentiously-named Tortured Poets Department has taken it even farther. Limited edition records, each with different bonus tracks? What a fucking cunt. I've been reading the reactions from Swifties, and most seem mildly displeased but always make sure to add that they're still buying the record, if not every variant. Swifties can't stand the idea of not supporting their queen and not be left behind as a lesser fan by not owning whatever shit she pushes out. Incredible.

The Taylor Swift journey from being a joke after Reputation and the especially embarrassing Lover, which would've been a career killer for almost any other pop star, to restoring her image and shifting the entire public perception of her as a musician/songwriter with folklore/evermore, to climbing to the very top of the world with Midnights... like, fuck. This will legit become a case study in universities soon enough in certain fields, mark my words.

Personally, I find Taylor herself insufferable, but she does sometimes make some great music and has written some fantastic lyrics (alongside some of the worst lyrics in modern pop music, lol), and she has a knack for powerful imagery and intense climaxes. I absolutely get why so many people connect to her music. She brings to the mainstream something that on the surface sells a much more personal and introspective point of view, and she has mastered the ability to write about herself in a way that others can also relate to despite the specifics.
