I've been a lurker for years before creating an account and I want to echo what was said in this thread. People on this site are older and tend to hang out in a few forums.

Sure there is some "bad" words said but for the most part it's just a bunch of small communities getting together and shooting the shit.

I hope this continues and I cannot wait to read about this in college textbooks down the road.

Depending on the State, most targets of defamation lawsuit have to be given the opportunity to correct the record first, if the plaintiff wants to seek punitive damages.

Well there is a justifiable reason. If they do, then they essentially admit that they defamed Josh and the forum. He can still sue them and they lose by default since they admit to the allegation. The only benefit to them is what Josh can collect would be capped at what he can prove the defamation cost him.

I certainly hope so. As fun as it is watching someone eat crow, making them eat it is even better. That said though we should hope everyone involved caves easy, because that would be the cheapest outcome for dear leader.
