Coming Out to Friends as a Transphobe

i had precisely one NB in my life. she was hand-flappingly autistic, and got very upset that I assumed she has autism, and went no-contact w/me for that reason. the tranny shit never came up. I would guess that by now she had her boobs removed or something, I will never know. since then like 2 other people have trooned out in the extended family, I just hope neither of them gets sterilized before the pendulum swings back. most people know about foot binding in china, but a lot of people don't know that when it fell out of fashion every woman with bound feet was bullied horrifically for their appearance, even though their mothers had done it to them as children and there was no way to correct the procedure. I fully anticipate society-wide cruelty towards troons and pooners to become popular in the same way, probably with some unfortunate looking non-trans people getting lumped in as collateral damage.

The wife and I also had her best friend and her husband over for dinner a few weeks ago and they went into an anti-tranny rant out of nowhere about this kid at her daughters school who identifies as a cat and whose parents are forcing the school to let them use a litterbox. Parents are up to their necks with this shit and people are starting to speak out, even in my country where we’re all apathetic about politics and don’t like to talk about it.

There's something weirdly religious about that, it feels like the woke version of saying grace or reciting The Lord's Prayer.

Fact is, woke white folk might love to make a big show of how much they stole, but suggest they give any of it back and watch them trip over themselves explaining why they shouldn't have to do that.

Oh, they LOVE to make Social Justice everyone else's responsibility. They won't give up their piece of land, their job, their bank account, their cushy life for someone who doesn't have the social mobility they do, but someone has to do something about it.

There's a phrase: be the change you want to see. I promise you, I'll say that to someone who does that thing about "reparations" or "stolen land", just to watch the mental gymnastics as to why it's a problem, just not their problem.

I’ve never had to do a Welcome to Country at work but you’ll see it before football games, big events and a lot of woke companies will do them before meetings including zoom meetings. My mate works in the local council so if you work for any government agency you’ll be doing them every single day. Probably why he’s so sick of em. I haven’t seen that Safran clip in so long! Fkn pisser, spot on.

Dealt with another one today - turns out an acquaintance who's significantly older than me (so definitely old enough to know better) buys into the gender propaganda wholeheartedly, because he's one of those types who thinks anything that pisses off conservatives = good (I've sadly got several relatives around his age who think the same way), and he tends to go on political rants even when it's only tangentially related to what we're talking about, so I casually mentioned that I disagree with his side on several things including gender and got the usual lecture about how "gender is a spectrum", self identity and how you feel, and DSDs/intersex conditions somehow disproving the fact that there are men and women, therefore science. This guy's a staunch atheist (again, similar to some relatives) and all about science, but believes that dick = man and vagina = woman is "oversimplifying how it really is, like that's what kids learn in school". Fucking hell, man, this is exactly why I'm reluctant to associate myself with the left.

It depends on how you define woke. If these are terminally online ultrapolitical autists, they're probably not worth keeping around. I have a few "woke" people in my life, but they also have a life of their own outside of online arguments, so its usually easy to leave the topic alone when I'm around them. They don't spend their time obsessively spreading tranny shit, and I don't feel obligated to pick apart every difference in opinion. A couple of lefty friends of mine took the radfem pill and it was fun to finally have someone I can bitch about trannies with. Another friend had a terrible experience with a tranny roommate, but he isn't willing to make the extra step that these people are fundamentally broken and he didn't just meet a bad one.

In general, I just don't want to discuss "politics" with any of my family/friends unless it's someone I'm close with and know can have an adult discussion about complicated topics. Otherwise it's just going to make everything else a lot less fun.
