It has problems as a game (combat, exploration, over-reliance on setpieces), but as an experience there's nothing that comes close to AW2. I mean that in a literal sense that I can't think of any game that can offer something like it. The blend of interactivity, cinematography, music and literature got me so good that I was willing to look past much of its design flaws. The very aesthetics of it feel like they were made for my specific tastes, it's crazy.
With that said, I don't think the jumpscares were used without purpose. Every time they appeared on screen, it was meant to represent the influence of the Dark Presence in one way or another; so much so that during the nursing home segment I knew exactly when they would happen. AW2 is also loaded with slow burn horror, so it isn't like it can't do both.

I love that at the bottom of it all she forgets to defend one thing: the writing being shit. She can't counter illogical twist and boring turns, just chooses only to address the whiteness maleness in the room. She can't say the writing isn't shit, that plots aren't tedious or boring or stupid, only that it's diverse. The amount of minorities working on your work or in your work doesn't make it better. If it did, Tyler Perry would have one of the most celebrated movie catalogs of the 21st century.

If I were to guess, she is partially white herself and is shitting hard because she used to get bullied for not being black enough (or felt guilty for being such). That's a tragedy, she should insert that story into their work.

It's always the money, son. At the end of the day, these people are ultimately useless dregs of society, and they're trying to do everything they can to secure the bag for the least amount of work. None of these people really believe in any of the causes they allegedly support. In the end, you can make a mouth say whatever you want to, and if it means securing those lips to the asshole of whoever's in charge, well, they'll do it. Without shame, without remorse. At least until you shine a big ole' spotlight on what they're actually doing, and that's when the mask drops entirely.

As GG kept moving along, I caught myself wondering something. Getting to see how all these journos behaved, who they hung out with, what they did in their spare time, revealed that these people didn't really seem to like games very much. They didn't have anything else to do with themselves, so they dug into this game shit. I can look back on twenty year old console and PC gaming magazines and pick-up on how excited, interested, and motivated the writers were about the games they enjoyed. With these people, not so much. There was some other motivation. So how did these people, with nothing to offer the world, with no skills or talents for anything valuable, manage to sink their claws so fucking deep into the industry? The people who love games, people who are much more productive and talented by comparison, don't seem to be occupying any places of power in the 'game space'.

Starting to understand that they don't have an ideology so much as they just want to destroy everything others enjoy. Bitter, cynical people, who hate you for having a good time. At least with gaming once this shit is found out there is big pushback. Now I wonder where all these roaches will scurry off to now that the light in the kitchen has been turned on.

You never know, something crazier could happen. The Sweet Baby controversy hasn't even reached Hogwarts Legacy or Bud Light levels.

If these topics are allowed to go viral and not suppressed and censored harshly, something could take off. However, unlike Gamergate 1.0, the "gaming journalists" and "cancel pigs" won't necessarily get a seat at the table. They are busy trying to keep their jobs (see Vice et al.), scattering to alternate platforms like Bluesky or Mastodon nodes, and coping with the Trump menace. They acted as shields for the real parasites.
