All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Why could it not have been Bernie vs Carson? A neurosurgeon for president would have been cool as hell.

Ben Carson had some interesting ideas about several subjects some choice quotes include:
  • “My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain. Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs’ graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don’t think it’d just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain."
  • “A lot of people who go into prison straight, and when they come out they’re gay.”
However it goes without saying that these quotes are adorable in comparison to the orange dumpster fire we've had to deal with for the past few months.

Well I have to admit that is a bit of... historically inaccurate. Despots building huge graves is nothing new.

Basically people put significant thought into things like Climate Change.

I chose 538 because they have the best graphics, and also because all the other major statistical analyses have her around 75%-80% of winning.

The United States by itself contributes significantly to environmental destruction worldwide (not intentionally), we are the largest consumer of resources worldwide and have grown quite comfortable to be the receivers of most of the worlds bounty. However the blame who pollutes the most is largely divided up by all of humanity. No one person or country is solely responsible but every action has cumulative effects that add up over time.

But as Americans we dis proportionally consumed more resources than anyone else in the world, for example despite only making only 5% of the population the United States by itself uses over 23-25% of the world's energy (oil, coal, biofuel etc.) and consume more than China and Russia put together. And thats without going into the amount of pollution we produced per capita.

TL;DR: We're not solely responsible, but we're hardly innocent.
One of our parties wanted to solve the fuel dilema in 08 by drilling in an artic wildlife preserve. Said party wants to hand over national parks to states, who would be free to sell exploitation rights to extraction companies, while more oil pipelines(from tar sands, the most costly means of extracting oil). Then a sizable portion of the population is dependent on coal for their livelyhood.
In 08, our solution to 3 dollar per gallon of gas? Ethanol. We wasted food for fuel, refuse to see the long term implications of climate change, and insist coal is needed in our energy policy. Growing up in a family that worked in the steel capital, I can tell you its not.
For once, I think Clinton is right. We can and must gain an edge in better, more efficient energy: Wind, solar, hydro, and nuclear. It is a very possible scenario that we could produce clean, safe power with He-3. This isotope is rare on Earth, but abundant on the moon. We need to invest in these technological advancements now, not later.

Why the hell does Tim Kaine's appearance seem to entirely change with every new picture I see of him?

That brings up the fact I'll be watching the VP debate tonight, only debate I'm probably going to watch, brought to you by Hurricane Matthew. A Brick for a face Vs A toothy, pro-life Man of many Faces.

Let it begin.

Not for nothing but the current models say burning coal cools the atmosphere.

I've seen that as well, it is a shame it produces so much waste. We could use it to supply poor, growing nations (I doubt renewable power will be cheap enough for the global market until more advancements in materials are made)

I'd like to see a lot of websites, particularly the clickbait sites, cover the 80's elections. I'd love to see Buzzfeed or Huffington try to defend Mondale.
Oh man, or Twitter during Mondale? Or Dukakis? No child would have to go without salt ever again.

@Dain Bramage

You do realize that if Trump tried to overturn the Constitution, if he actually wanted to do so, that everyone would be jumping down his throat to kick his ass? Stop buying into the sensationalist bullshit and think with your brain - what little of one you have.

It's not so much Trump trying to overturn the Consititution. It's that his VP Pence (who's gonna be the REAL one doing the Presidentin') will just plain disregard it entirely, just like he has done as Governor.

AHAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAA

VP is literally a rump position with no power but to break ties in the senate.
