All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

What current models? This sounds dubious at best.
This is so ingrained in the science, there is no point linking to one. Two of the byproducts of burning coal are CO2 and SO2. Envirofags know all about the first one. The second one is thought to be responsible for a great deal of China's smog problem but, while rightly considered a pollutant, is scientifically proven to aerosolize and block sunlight for a couple years, thus affecting global surface temperatures. In coal's case, the results lean to the cooling side of things.

If you want to read about it, there are plenty of right-wing types of blogs and sites that exaggerate the effect and claim SO2 is responsible for the decade long warming trend flatline we've been seeing. All off the people writing papers since the beginning have the sulfur content of the atmosphere plugged into the models.

Ben Carson had some interesting ideas about several subjects some choice quotes include:
  • “My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain. Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs’ graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don’t think it’d just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain."
  • “A lot of people who go into prison straight, and when they come out they’re gay.”
However it goes without saying that these quotes are adorable in comparison to the orange dumpster fire we've had to deal with for the past few months.
Ben Carson makes me pray I never have to have neurosurgery.

Can you please post them anyways? Claims require proof, and we can all gain to learn something new.

And it's not exactly comforting to know that in order to cool down an area we have to turn our sky into this:

The reason why there is a push for clean energy sources (solar, wind, nuclear, geothermal) is because they don't contribute to climate change AND don't turn the sky into cancer in gas form.

Hillary Clinton is at it again trying to appeal to mexicans and making an all spanish TV ad.

Donald Trump wants to see us disapear
Trump will capture and deport millions
Even our (dreamers?) thus tearing families apart
but there is a way to stop it: Stepping forth and voting.

Basically people put significant thought into things like Climate Change.

I chose 538 because they have the best graphics, and also because all the other major statistical analyses have her around 75%-80% of winning.

The United States by itself contributes significantly to environmental destruction worldwide (not intentionally), we are the largest consumer of resources worldwide and have grown quite comfortable to be the receivers of most of the worlds bounty. However the blame who pollutes the most is largely divided up by all of humanity. No one person or country is solely responsible but every action has cumulative effects that add up over time.

But as Americans we dis proportionally consumed more resources than anyone else in the world, for example despite only making only 5% of the population the United States by itself uses over 23-25% of the world's energy (oil, coal, biofuel etc.) and consume more than China and Russia put together. And thats without going into the amount of pollution we produced per capita.

TL;DR: We're not solely responsible, but we're hardly innocent.

I'm certainly not one of these total climate change deniers, but the politicisation of this issue has gotten ridiculous. The urgency of this has been blown totally out of proportion.

One of the stupidest things I ever heard a politician say was that climate change made ISIS. It's dumb crap like this, together with the usual disregard for blue-collar America, that is discrediting the entirety of the issue.

Yes, it's an issue we're up against, but big bad evil climate change didn't make you spill your coffee this morning.

ISIS made climate change. All those backyard refineries in eastern Syria burning god knows how many millions of barrels of crude out in the open. Like Saddam's burning oilfields in 1991 x 10

Man, I did not know it was possible to be literally, physically, beaten to death by your opponent's arguments in a debate, but if Kaine and Pence were the candidates right now, Pence would have just won the election twice over by shear process of elimination.

I swear, I just read it today somewhere where they put everything in column A and coal in column B in a source that would be considered adversarial to deniers but now I can't find the fucking thing. The article I thought was the one only mentions coal once as a producer of aerosols. After looking for the last hour, I might have to concede that I am an idiot.

I missed the VP debate. Which of the two was less exceptional?

Why could it not have been Bernie vs Carson? A neurosurgeon for president would have been cool as hell.
Carson would've come out of his self prescribed pill high two years into the presidency confused as fuck.

If only the general public gave half a shit about the VPs

Personally in my opinion Pence.

I am sure the media will spin it otherwise, but while I am no Trump shill Pence's victory seems almost blindingly obvious to me.

If only the general public gave half a shit about the VPs

This is the honest truth, but I still found it enlightening and an insight into the two primary candidates.
