I'm sure the discord trannies allow everything to stay up as a safe haven for nonces because they want the material to whack it to. It's probably trivial to automate detection of that stuff. That isn't discord "culture" though.

He doesn't understand the difference between "decentralized" and "self hosted".

Discord is centralized and cannot be self hosted.
IRC is centralized and can be self hosted.
XMPP is decentralized and can be self hosted.

His gripe is that Discord is a central server that you can't access and you can't set up your own. With IRC you can set up your own server and have total control over it, same with Mumble if you want voice chat. But that places all the trust on the server owner since it's not even E2E encrypted.

XMPP is decentralized like e-mail and is E2E encrypted with OMEMO, making it the better option if you care about privacy and actual decentralization.

I'm fine with reaction notifications being disabled (I've had them off for awhile now) but I am not a fan of its removal on user profiles. It was how I gauged at a glance if someone was a retard or not. It's hard to get reacted negatively (enough that it hurts the score) unless you are utterly retarded. I can live with it but I will miss having a chuckle at the negatives I see. What fucking pains me is this attrocious placement of Watched Threads on the main page. This is horrible and I am not happy at this change at all. It pisses me off enough that I almost typed in onionfarms in my browser but then I remembered the people there.

You could also rely on the user messages on their page, that's always been my actual indicator more than reaction score.

I get where you're coming from but I think the big difference is that the gated threads would largely be used for unpopular topics or gay cliqueish keep-away shit, and there's nothing stopping people who value the thread being used for that purpose from making a new thread if the OP/janny starts behaving poorly.

As an example ; I like pitbulls. A quiet minority of the farms also likes pitbulls. I'd like to make a thread for pitbull enjoyers to talk about pitbulls and post wholesome pictures of pitbulls being wholesome. Unfortunately for me, a very more vocal minority of the farms hate pitbulls to the extend that they willingly choose to google pitbull attack gore all day to seethe about it, and if I make my thread they will immediately start flooding it with incoherent mad seething and pictures of pitbull attack gore, and the pitbull-enjoyers will not want to post in it and will likely all wander off to post about pitbull-enjoying on twitter or wherever. So, if I make my gated pitbull thread under the proposed mechanics, we now have a pitbull-enjoyers thread and I can sweep out the disruptive people who only come in to shit it up because they're unhappy that the thread exists.

Now, if I turn into a complete power-hungry retard that starts threadbanning people for not being 100% on board with pitbull love and want to ask well-meaning questions like "Aren't they more aggressive though?", those people can just go to the ungated main pitbull thread and ask their questions there. If I get bit by a pitbull and change my mind completely and turn it into an anti-pitbull thread, somebody else who likes pitbulls can make a new pro-pitbull thread and then not let me into it because I'm a seething pitbull-disliker now. And if I start threadbanning people I don't personally like because I'm a petty faggot, they can make their own competing "Dyn is a petty faggot, also pitbulls" thread and then ban me and my petty faggot clique from it, and if my behaviour was petty and faggotted enough the new thread will probably end up the main pitbull thread and I'll look gay and dumb for letting the power of sweeping up one thread corrupt me and turn me homosexual.

In short ; reddit is such a trannied-out shithole because they make concerted efforts to try to sweep all wrongthink out of existence completely. We'd just be sweeping it out of a few designated threads, with nothing at all stopping people from using or making ungated or competing gated threads of their own.

I just learned that gargamel got culled. This has been absolutely insanity, a week ago I thought these people were cool and was shooting the shit with them. Now I leaned he was a furry sympathizer and got banned for calling null a nigger. He I thought I missed everything because I signed up after the clearnet shit and I now have had the most entertaining show in my Internet life!

Suggestion: Pitbull hate and love threads to contain the people who can't help themselves one way or the other.
