My theory on this is that Nick was not very interested in religion, and the ELCA was a compromise to get him to come to some kind of church.
As far as I know, this is not Kayla's family's church, and they moved to Minnesota to be near her family. I also recall that Nick whined about going to their present church for a Protestant version of Confirmation classes that the children would be in for 'years' because it requires him to drop them back off in the afternoons and pick them up later. This new church is also farther away than the ELCA, and he was wistful that COVID streaming church was great.
I will repeat, if anyone gets one, please hold on to it. We could do something fun.
As for the gift itself, Nick should have done shot glasses. He got caught up in having something 'special' and now anything that he gives out will be underwhelming and most of the 5k will sit in wastage. He has this habit of doing this. His seething explanation of why he's not doing it seems to strengthen the speculation that he's lost his contract.
A quick transcription, may be slightly off:
"For now, not doing the Rumble flip right now. YouTube's great. As long as people keep participating and enjoying the YouTube show, I like it. I always hated cutting it off. Look, if Rumble has a better product, then people will go to the better product, right? That's the idea. I said on Friday that seeing if he did the switch would be the key to sussing this out, and it looks like I may have been right.
I am kinda shocked he's not going Rumble exclusive, but I guess that makes sense for him if he wants to stick it to Rumble (or rather feel like he is... as I doubt they are out much of anything by not renewing). That might bite him in the ass though, since Youtube's community standards are higher, and he might end up Rumble exclusive anyways (or on another platform altogether).
Also, I just pulled up the stream out of curiosity, and holy shit is that chat glacial. I remember a time it was popping off so fast you couldn't get a word it.
