Should sticker notifications be brought back?

I just want to reiterate that I'm absolutely floored that there are apparently a sizable chunk of people that weren't using reaction notifications to navigate the site.
How did they even navigate this place? Looking at each thread they commented at manually? Comment history? Newest posts? Community habbenings?

That is a LOT of shit to go back to constantly for me, and I barely do anything here in comparison to you weird fucks.

Initially felt the same way as Null and turned them off except "quoted," but then I realized they were a handy way to check my recent activity without drilling into my profile or feeling like a faggot for creating a shortcut to my own post history.

The fact a basic nobody on the forum can count on at least one reaction to almost every post should also tell you something as "Operator" about whether or how much to fuck with them.

I didn't even realize how far he'd gone until, while listening to the stream yesterday, I tried to check my own profile to see if Secret Watcher had ever rated one of my posts.

Stupid reddit-tier decision by Null on a forum where people are more than capable of figuring out their own controls.

No, that shit is fucking gay. All is needed is like/dislike, and agree/disagree, and it definitely doesn't need notifications.
Then YOU turn them off. Stop being an authoritarian prick and leave MY controls alone.

I like to think it is just a knee-jerk reaction, but Null is also pretty stubborn when he wants to be.

Also, @Kees H insists that watched threads are a perfectly fine alternative to notifications, and Im just being a faggot for not using site features, but just watching two threads clogged up my bell notifications.

I have to literally go to 'see all', and click 'see more' multiple times just to find updates on the last thread Im following, the Jack Scalfani thread. This obviously isn't a problem if you're like Kees and only follow Bossman, but I like to spread my interests to multiple cows in multiple subforums, and having to dig through those threads to find my last relevant post manually is a pain.

Which is to say even the obvious solutions are still an inconvenience.

I absolutely want it back. If I wrote something people liked I really want to know, if I wrote something stupid I also really want to know. In all honesty I take a couple extra minutes at least 2-3 times a week to make a low-effort meme people in the thread will enjoy. It's nice to log on and see 50+ enjoyed my nigger joke.

For example:

Never forget Eisenhower's farewell address to Kiwis: In the bowels of Kiwifarms, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought on unsought, by the faggots who cry about stickers. The potential for the disastrous end of sticker notifications exists and will persist. We must lever let these faggots endanger our liberties and shitposting processes.

Edit: Well, Null just locked down the thread and he seemed really pissed.

to the moronic tranny shit stains that provoked this, just so you know, you are the fucking worse but hey, you wont get mean sticker notifications anymore.

Get rid of everything attached to accounts. No more identity, no more conflicts and peace will be brought to the farms. True unity.

That sounds like 4chan with extra steps

He thinks we're all insane retards who just don't want to learn how to use a forum. Ignored everything said in this thread.

At least he said he'll revisit the subject.

Null just rage-closed the discussion thread, so this might be moot.

He's also being a tunnel visioned retarded developer.
People don't know how to figure out where they were in a thread (the forum automatically navigates to this part of the thread for you when you click the thread's link that has the /unread affix), they don't know how to watch a thread, they don't know where to find their watched threads.

I don't want to watch a thread. I want to post in a couple of threads each day, get notifications throughout the day, then move on. Some of that is A&N specific daily article posting, some of that is "check in on a different cow every other day", some of that is "oh I just found a new thread on the main page" discovery. None of those are invalid ways to spend a day browsing KF.

I don't want to Watch every thread in A&N, or every slow-moving thread I drop a shitpost in. I want to Watch threads that will have no activity for a few weeks or months at a time, so I know when to look at them again, not the threads I visit frequently.

Notifications let me track all that easily, from any page I'm on, without leaving tab or going to my profile. It's a retarded user experience to require you to watch a thread, get 1 notification when it's updated (then no more until you click it), then unfollow it later.

Like, there are so many buttons on this that exist specifically to help you navigate to threads you are most interested in:

All of those buttons force you to navigate away from the page you're currently on.

Stickers on Kiwi Farms are like dislikes on YouTube videos: it's a good way to get a cursory indication of a post's quality before digesting the entire thing. On YouTube, if you stumbled upon a tutorial but saw it had a staggering ton of dislikes, it meant it was uploaded by some pajeet who spews out misinformation with poor audio quality. And here on the farms, if a long-winded post is wrought with hats and trash cans, you can guarantee it's pure AIDS, and should thusly be disregarded.

The fact that site's now just a hub for groups of people only interested in one, maybe two, cows saddens me greatly. But Im glad to know I'm not the only one who visits multiple threads at once.

Having that sentiment fall on deaf ears is a bit jarring, especially when what was asked in the poll is fairly reasonable and aligns with what Null is against in the first place.

Who pissed on Null's coffee this morning? I have seen him more pissed at this than all the tranny boycotts towards the site.

And here was I thinking we were in for some well earned good times after the farms fought for its life the last 1/2 years.

There is nothing worse than being a proper user the farms, just mostly keeping it to yourself and not starting shit and suddenly you are getting punished for the retardery fuckness of others.
Null locked the thread about this and said we might revisit the issue in a week or a month. For now at least, it stays.
I suspect he is going to test if the site metrics and post rate changes. If it doesn't slow down, things will stay as they are.

Guess I will be taking a break from the farms then. Consider it my form of "protest" but then again, he can just see the lowered engagement as the "dopaminine retards" just leaving the site and how thats a "good thing".

Bruh, come on, thats progressive talk.

I think he's letting the sticker autists cloud his understanding of engagement. I hate the buzzword, but that's literally what drives people to use a site. Forums are less gay than Twitter or Instagram, which hyper-focus the dopamine hits of engagement; but that doesn't mean forums can just ignore that aspect.

Here's my daily KF experience: I keep the main page open all day, refresh it during down time at work or during the evening. I see the most recently updated thread in each sub-board, and sometimes I click on it out of curiousity--this is how I discover new cows or discussion topics, not through features. I also click the constantly updating Discussion or Politisperging threads, often drop a post in there, which I only care about for the rest of the day.

Null thinks everyone is very interested in only a few cows or threads, therefore I should Watch, bookmark, or keep their tabs open. But I am casually interested in many cows, and ephemerally interested in many threads that are only relevant for a few days. KF has good tools for the first model, but not good tools for the latter model; sticker notifications weren't perfect, but they worked, and there's no reason to make that engagement model harder by removing them.

So instead of learning or adjusting to how the site actually works they just use a content feed of bullshit sticker alerts to figure out where they're going to be active at. Huh???
That's certainly one way to look at it.

Another might be,
"Why is 'the way my site actually works' harder to figure out and/or use for a not-insignificant portion of my userbase than a 'content feed of bullshit sticker alerts'?"
