I'd agree except the watch function is finnicky sometimes. There are times it just won't notify me if a thread's been updated or not.

I have never ever run into problem with notifications, only issue is any notifs would get swallowed up by reaction score stuff, which isn't an issue anymore.

It's not about validation. It's about being able to tell at a glance whose definitely read my posts without having to spend several minutes navigating through threads to find my post again. It's a form of communication that made it slightly easier to keep up with what's happening. There's no reason to be so hostile. It's a mere difference of opinion after all. We'll get used to it eventually.

I prefer to use the Watch function on threads that update less regularly. I don't need to watch Keffals of Fatrick's threads because there is literally always stuff happening, and I tend to browse around the different cows at my leisure.

No, I removed it specifically because I've realized that not only have many, many users apparently trained their brains to use a forum specific way that is counter-intuitive to how forums are supposed to work, but you're also making posting decisions based on that feedback.

You sound like one of those math teachers that would get angry at you for solving the problem without the solution they taught you. Some people are used to this, while others are used to that. People have their own ways on how they want to browse the forum, and if it works for them, then I don't see what's wrong. I think your unstoppable autism is clouding your judgement.

This started because I received feedback from multiple users that they prefer to post in fucking retarded DM chains specifically because they don't want negative feedback on their posts. They have been discouraged from using this webforum as a forum because they do not feel safe to post as a result of these incessant notifications and looming persistent scorecard ratings. That is FUCKING STUPID. That means the site is broken and is fundamentally failing to encourage people to use it. It means that the reaction system, which exists to provide feedback on individual posts, is having a chilling effect on the entire site.

And the solution? Just limit reactions all together lol. In fact, you could still see what people think of your post, they can still leave negative reactions on them, you just don't get notifications for it anymore so what benefit is this change for them? All you did was piss a lot of people off by suddenly limiting a feature people have used for years. Who knew the solution to a minority was to affect the majority.

On A&H I like the dopamine hits. The one I really would miss is getting a late sticker in A&H and go back and delete or edit it. The lates helped train me to be more careful on news and articles, so to me that was a real utility.

Null, please stop being obtuse. The stickers WERE the post notifications. They served that exact same purpose but better. You saw the sticker and you got the opinion of what that member thought of the post, you got a useful barometer for how the thread was moving along based on the frequency, and if you wanted to keep checking on the thread and you could click that notification and rejoin as you pleased. How is that not useful?
