It's the effortlessness that makes it so funny though. It's like when for a week people on twitter or wherever the fuck thought the thumbs up emoji was passive-aggressive.
Exactly. People always can have reasons to be mad about. That doesnt mean it is a bad thing.

The notifications were nice so that you could go "oh hey, activity is happening in this mostly dead thread I haven't posted in in months". Also on the rare occasion that someone goes through the trouble of making a post that took some actual effort, it's nice to see the recognition of that.

Or I'm just autistic and like getting my (You)s. Either way.

I'm indifferent to the score and mildly supportive of the notifications, but that Hitler message made me laugh like a tard harder than Null having a little drink and sending the whole site hello. No asspats could ever compare to seeing that out of the blue totally oblivious to how serious this slapfight has apparently become.
I'm going to print and frame mine and hang it in the office. Greatest day of my life.

If people on the site aren't posting because they're going to receive a neg rating then maybe they shouldn't be posting it all as they don't seem to be well in the head.
Nah sometimes we all say something retarded, wrong or gay.
Negrating is the great equaliser! Just because someone marks a post mati, dumb or whatever doesn't mean all your posts are getting negrated unless you're a sperg.

I hate the change, but thoroughly enjoyed the Hitler notification.

Keep in mind, Null being autistically stubborn is the reason this site is still online.

I think he's wrong, but this is entirely on brand.
You make a good point. That being said, Ooperator must remember an adage. "If you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole."

I mean, let's be real, the dude called me a nigger over a misunderstanding because he didn't bother to read my previous posts in the thread. He's harped on people before for posting shit without reading the thread first.

Having sticker notifications disabled by default seems like the way to go, some other websites don't really have notifications like this and that's fine. If you really care about updoots, negratings or whatever you want to call them, then go to your settings and activate notifications for that, it takes you just a few seconds.

I don't really see how stickers help you in navigating the forum since you already get notifications for any post in a thread you're interested provided you clicked on the Watch button and if you click in any of those notifications you go to either a post you got quoted or the most recent unread one. You even now have a small section on the home page that shows you in the most recent activity in your Watched threads.

And if you really don't like stickers, then you could ask Null if he could add the option in Preferences to disable stickers completely, you can't give them and you can't get them either.

STATUS UPDATE ON YOUR POSTS:
- They are not changed.
- They're still there.
/UPDATE

That's nice. Quick question, which posts are in threads that are still moving at a discussion-level pace? Any way to figure that out at a glance, maybe with 1 click of an unobtrusive button at the top of every page?

I've had a dozen retards tell me about Watch Thread, a function previously used for slow moving threads with infrequent yet interesting updates. I am being told if I watch every damn A&N article or Q&A I shitpost in, when I get off of work I can come back and get exactly 1 notification per thread that something's changed. Any way to figure out which threads were moving fast enough to warrant a re-visit? Or are we supposed to click through every post on our profile and revisit them all?

I'm also told we can derive that information from the sticker reaction page of our profile, which is really odd considering the dozen retards also informed me that page is just there for stupid faggot stupid brain dopamine hits, not for actual use. Now that it is (supposedly) for legitimate use, is there any way we can get that useful page available with 1 click, instead of 2? Maybe from an unobtrusive button at the top of every page?

Don't rush out and hire a UX consultant about all this, maybe Xenforo has something built in already that we could use.

This started because I received feedback from multiple users that they prefer to post in fucking retarded DM chains specifically because they don't want negative feedback on their posts. They have been discouraged from using this webforum as a forum because they do not feel safe to post as a result of these incessant notifications and looming persistent scorecard ratings.
I feel like it's part of KF culture to get mass neg rated at least once. Most users learn to not care and ignore the neg rates, especially if they know it's coming from a user that is purposely trying to start shit.

I know some users said that they don't like to public post due to being neg rated, but IMO that sounds like a personal problem that they either need to get over, or if it's actually an issue, they need to report it to the mods and get the neg raters banned. I mean part of what makes KF unique is that people are allowed to disagree or call you a retard if you're acting like one, if some people can't handle that then maybe they aren't cut out to be a KF user. I just don't really see the point in nuking something over what sounds like a problem for a small minority of users.

SO DONT FUCKING RATE POSTS, DONT FUCKING CHECK YOUR SCORE, DONT FUCKING CLICK MY STICKERS.

I mean Christ, all I did was make this site to laugh at Chris-chan which actually pleasantly surprised me, and folks are voting this decision "Dumb" and suggesting I'm depriving them of dopamine. I've said repeatedly that this was just my experience and in no way should I give a fuck how everybody else will feel. I've said the notifications and scores aren't coming back, so I'm not trying to hide anything. I've-

ahh fuck it, I'm closing this thread, fuck you and fuck A&H, I can never post a single goddamn thread in here without you faggots making Technical Grievances threads it up in some way or another. I should've learned my lesson long ago and never left the intelligent, rational forum where I don't have to deal with clueless idiots and morons like you people. I'm going back to Talk to Staff and staying there, since it has a microscopic fraction of the retards and trolls populating the forum.

I guess that should strike me as being ironic, but it's more sad to me than anything. Thanks for running me out of my own goddamn forum.

I feel like there are worse problems to deal with on a website than "omg people enjoy X feature" and the notifications helped people like me, who post in a lot of different threads, stay engaged with them. It's funny watching people upset about the karma score itself but it feels pretty retarded to hamstring a well-liked feature of the site on the basis of "ugh, people having fun? Fuck people having fun". I also feel like it will have a reductive effect by causing people to engage less consistently with threads or with fewer threads overall because it's too much to keep up with, especially in highly active subforums like Games where threads get bumped off the first page regularly.

In the end none of us have a say anyway so eh

Even if it remains the same, I will still remain on Kiwifarms. It is not a huge dealbreaker and I like more the community. It was just nice to have that feature.
People are only mad about it because something drastically changed and it's something that they overly cared about without realizing that they did not need it to actually use the forum at all. Normal users will quickly adjust, users that used the sticker notifications as a way to keep track of content will figure out that there are other ways to do so, and users who only cared about sticker score will die out.

When the old chat got changed for Sneedchat, that had complaints, but people quickly adjusted and now not many people remember the old chat. For every major change in the site there was the initial pushback and whining, and then people adjusting days after. This is the same shit, people will bitch and moan, type out asinine bullshit that completely misses the point, and then they'll get over it, either leave the site or adjust to the changes. Humans naturally adapt to change, but they sure as hell will bitch when the change initially happens.

As for the "it got removed instead of it being an option", I agree with force removing the sticker notifications. You could always check your personal sticker activity and you still can, and by it being an option, people with bad impulse control would keep reenabling it and keep using it as a dopamine booster or as a bad way to keep track of thread activity. I know something about this because I had to ask Null to ban me from Sneedchat because I always got in trouble with it, and no amount of personal gatekeeping kept me away from it. Sometimes you really have to take away site features because retards can't self-moderate.

Hot take but just because a post you made got a lot of pos or negrates doesn't mean you were right or wrong respectively. It just tells you the general opinions of the users reading a thread.
