Put some work in to get it, feels better that way.Because the point is that dopamine, for lack of a better word, is good.

Disagree that'll it'll lead to less engagement because now I feel compelled to respond to ensure you get the little bell notification that I just gave you this sticker:I think some people are not understanding how this could lead to less engagement. I am not saying this in a threatening way to Null. It's not like most people will leave because of this change. I'm certainly not going to leave because of this. It's not THAT big of a deal.
But I think it will lead to less engagement accidentally. For example: usually when I make a post, I'm trying to kill time at work. I'll make some comments on a thread, then leave, never thinking about it again. Hours later, I'll come back and see my reaction notifications and then think "oh yeah, I made a comment there, guess the thread is moving" and click back to it, usually replying some more, which in turn keeps the thread active.
With the notifications gone, I'm not going to do that anymore unless someone is replying to me. I can foresee this happening to not just me, but all the other users who also use notifications as a reminder. Overtime, you'll see less comments because people aren't being reminded and they forget about the thread.
Some people will say this is being lazy. I agree. I am lazy and busy, and opt for the easiest route with the least amount of clicks. Again, I'm not going to leave KF or stop posting, just pointing out that a lot of people have attention spans the size of ants and will not put in more effort to use another feature, even if that extra effort only takes an additional 3 seconds. That's just how a lot of people are and this has always been a problem for other platforms that make subtle changes and then end up walking it back when they realize a big chunk of their user base has ADHD.
