That needs to happen but won't because the political considerations will far outweigh any strategic or practical ones. In the US for example that would be the end of the shipbuilding industry. The only thing keeping it barely alive now are naval vessels that must be built here because of the Jones Act. Korea put all the other shipbuilders out of business decades ago.The position, ships and strategy of nearly every navy in the world needs to be re-thought in the wake of whats going in Ukraine. More than just a Russian problem is going on. There are going to be questions for every country going forward about maintaining surface fleets and if they can be effectively protected.
