The fact that Kotaku and games media is doubling down on the political is only going to make (normal) people hate them more.

I am going to sit on the sidelines and watch. As I said previously I learned my lesson, I am just going to sit back and watch, because if it is Gamergate 2.0, then I bet a million dollars and my testicles we're going to get some new lolcows out of this.

There is a more subtle reason why its different this time. Last time it was a spat between the gamers and the videogame journalists. Which the corporations viewed as watching 2 autists fight on the short bus.

But this time, the root issue has a direct impact on AAA game sales. The problem atists, Sweet Baby Inc, are shown to drive awa tens of millions in game sales via the very simple trick of creating a Steam Curator Group to show what games they've influenced. This is suddenly not a short bus slap fight on the interwebz. EA executive bonuses can be effected!

It was going to happen one way or another. The conclusion of GamerGate 1 was well... inconclusive. Sargon made a news network, Count Dankula faced the courts, got through it, made a career out of it, and Jim has super cancer but is still chugging. The wokeness was revealed, but never purged. It basically went cold war. Until now that is.

Probably a bit of both. A surprising number of people, even in the right wing sphere, still enjoy and play a lot of these games (which is something I find somewhat odd). Maybe they don't "read into it" as much as others, but from the sounds of it a lot of the shit that's been pumped out is really blatant. Like for example apparently in Nu-Spiderman there's a lot of fag related sidequests to go along with all the negress main characters. I personally haven't played many vidya made past 2015 with some very rare exceptions though. That's just 'cause they just don't make 'em like they used to. Yep.

I mean i get playing recent games. Over time you grow to ignore the bullshit, because you just want to play the new spooderman. That and i think ten years post gamergate does something to you. You stop caring, just want to have fun. Until it gets to the point you can't ignore it anymore. I think while there are probably some glowworms, you are probably right a lot of normies are in there and just dont care.

Damn, the way you described it does feel like a season one of an anime or a tv show, maybe a first movie in a whole upcoming lineup.
So, I guess by that logic, Gamergate 2 will really have to shake things up, if the first one was only setting up the future total retard war battlefield.

Well at the time most of the people involved were in college or shit. Sargon was a fucking nobody. It didn't so much blow up as implode while most of them got out and made careers off their new street cred. Now however, the loser gamers have money and news networks. This is gonna be a fucking ride.

The subtle propaganda is the worst. Good thing I am mostly involved in old games and racing games. While Forza Horizon 5 has in character creator pronouns, thats the only stuff I found upsetting. Racing is completely pristine of politics.

Personally i dont give a shit about charecter creator bullshit. Its when it starts damaging the actual game that it ticks me off enough i won't buy it. It's why i've gone all in on japanese games. That stuff is still pure for the most part.
