At least they are not actively and proudly burning nonprofit money on diversity hires like Gnome.

I prefer xfce because lightweight, but KDE is a great choice, I would recommend that to a novice no doubt.

I use XFCE since all I got is a laptop from 2010, by "using their software" I meant shit like Krita and KDE Connect
No way you'll convince me to drop XFCE, even on a modern laptop.
