Gawker's death was so long overdue it's unreal, but I think you're right not only because of what you said but also because AI is being perceived not just as a supplemental tool for journos, but as an outright replacement once sophisticated enough. I don't want to waste my gaming time on any unnecessary layers of DRM or additional bullshit that doesn't need to be there. The whole "live services" games thing is just another HUGE step in taking away your ownership of games (considering it's impossible to pirate them/crack them for offline play, unless someone leaks the code, like Star Wars Galaxies), and it doesn't feel like that long ago that gamers all revolted against the Xbox One initial DRM - now it's 10 years later, and these online only policies don't get nearly the pushback. Even the Xbox Series X requires you to connect online and use an MS account just to even set up the thing initially. That to me is unacceptable.

I really wish companies would take after GOG's model - it's entirely possible to pirate every game on their platform, yet people still buy their games.
