Should sticker notifications be brought back?

Again, people are mad, Null is mad, it's all emotions and if anything is to change, it's after people finally calm the fuck down so an actual discussion can be had, not another ten pages of "fuck you Null for changing shit" and any actual critique being drowned out by either "you're a dickrider" or "fuck off to Onion Farms".
I would argue what led to the hot pot boiling over is the many people jumping in to call people "dopamine addicts" and other reductive statements. After seeing Null double and triple down, users began to question Null in general, not just on this specific issue, and so rhetoric escalated. It takes two sides to tango but only one side is being purposefully misrepresentative of people's views and literally doing Olympic level mental gymnastics to avoid admitting this decision has no upside.

People are becoming increasingly upset not at the decision, but what it represents and by the set of people doing mental backflips while they post disingenuous statements about the functions on the site, attack those who disagree as mentally deficient and generally bury their heads in the sand.

How much of that 70% donated to the legal fund, or donated at all? How much of that 70% constantly sits in this thread yelling at Null to bring back the sticker notifications? And how many just got over it and moved on?
This is such a bad faith point. Should the forum be a pay-to-play affair? Like a certain forum once administered by a deceased Mangosteen enthusiast? I'm pretty sure non-paying users contribute plenty of content to the site, and I'm pretty sure Null doesn't want a mass exodus (not that I anticipate one happening, regardless of sticker notifications.)

The thread was mostly silly shitposting from after Null left until he came back earlier today to address some actual claims made about him. And even then it remained mostly chill until you showed up and started sperging at everyone who dared to defy the Ooperator's will.

Also:
Also most of those accounts are from 2020 or later and don't have T&H

You are so cool and special

By the way I'd like to remark that my involvement in this thread would have remained a single post expressing my annoyance at the decision and then leaving because I don't actually care that much, and I could've remained forever oblivious to any internal drama without a care in the world. When I read about the older drama and a few other implications in the thread is when I actually got concerned, I feel there needs to be some counterbalance to the awful, poorly thought out arguments a few people are presenting, mostly to not ultimately impact my user experience.

If it were, me not loving Republicans with every fiber of my fiber like you incels do wouldn't send you into such a temper tantrum
the first time i learned about you was in this thread, and i will continue to like or not like your posts based on their content, and not on whether or not the person posting them is a liberal. i don't play jersey sports, because i'm not niggercattle. sorry the joke about people getting mad at you went over your head.

and I still unbanned him when his splinter site closed... so idk I guess I'm just the avatar of evil.
I thought cause federal levels of headache and you're gone was a reasonable stance.
So even in the highly unlikely chance FS is a woman irl, she'd be a compulsive liar either way
Hulkster is 100% right on this one.
I've talked with her on discord before d00d. 100% true and honest biological female. You're wrong on this one, hulkster. IDK why it's inconceivable to you, but that's your cross to bear I guess.
Voice changers were decent 10 years ago. Someone sounding like a woman in VC means absolutely nothing to me. The entire internet would be well served by trying to survive 2 years of people trying steal your shit and blow you in Eve Online.

It's not paranoia if no one on the internet who plays up being a woman is one and everyone is trying to gank you.

despite there being an option to disable them
Here's a big issue with this statement. You can disable those, but they're on by default, and a shitton of people don't know you can disable them, and if they all get disabled by default then you're effectively disabling DM's altogether because at least one person has to have them open to start a 1-1 conversation. So there is no good blanket solution for this because it would lead to people believing something is broken again and would further hinder the site's functionality (something that's constantly brought up as an argument here).

And as for making the sticker notifications optional, this is another issue. This site is full of spergs. Ask Null how many times he had to add someone to someone's ignore list because they were so assmad about them, only for them to manually go into their ignore settings to unignore that user to keep seething at them. So if that was left as is, you'd have retards from A&H seething that HHH gave them a MATI sticker because they'd get an instant notification about it and they'd be too retarded to just disable those and stop caring. And if a mod disabled that for them they'd reenable it. Null chose the nuclear option, but the lesser of two evils becuase he could've nuked the DM functionality altogether.

Of course I'm heavily biased because I had those notifications disabled so I don't see any downsides to it from my point of view, and if anything people starting to reply to me just to post a reaction emote to "send me reaction notifications" pissed me off because no, I don't want to get notified every time you want to give me a sticker, and it doesn't work that way anyway because I see a notification about someone posting something but I don't see what they posted until I clicked on it. But I didn't spend the last few days seething about this and demanding change, I just used the site's tools to stop that from happening.

But anyway, everyone is overreacting, and at this point I'm tired of repeating the exact same talking point and having the exact same replies from the exact same users. I'm gonna go browse other threads now or just do something else.

Ok here's my non-ironic, Actually Serious, non-shitpoast:

Don't care about the points or whatever, but the notifications are a convenient way to go back to active threads and interact with other users, vs. just firing off a poast into the void and never looking back. Feel free to accuse me of fagotronics but IMHO the notifications are pro-community.
That is a a good point. I also really do not care at all about my score. I also do no care about my achievements. I would gladly give up both to get sticker notifications back.

Obviously I support he forum enough to send Josh Money and I will continue to send Josh money because the fact KF exists is very important to me. That being said Josh is human and fallible, not everything he says is right not everything he does is a good idea. I have found having a conversation with him in the past very difficult, I can recall trying to just send him money years ago and it taking 3 messages before he realized this, my message began with something like:

"Hello, Josh hope you are dong well here is a gift card for X USD, I have included a scan of front and back please accept this unconditionally. I also wanted to ask you about X please keep in mind the gift card is yours regardless of if you consider the following. My request regarding X is...."

Not to relitigate the examples posted in previous posts, but more often than not in my view he was right or it was justifiable. Sometimes the regulars of a thread get tunnel-visioned. Even more importantly, outside of a few users showing and pointing to their necks to be slit and those who saw them slit, it didn't have a big impact to the rest of the site. This is a site wide change with no benefit that affects every single user and inconveniences the majority. That's going to invite way more commentary.

But anyway, everyone is overreacting, and at this point I'm tired of repeating the exact same talking point and having the exact same replies from the exact same users. I'm gonna go browse other threads now or just do something else.
Like wise

I’ll just say this as my last statement even though it probably won’t matter but there was actually decent advice and stories if an when you do have time to look through this thread later.

So there is no good blanket solution for this
Yes there is, Josh already did it. He made inviting people that don't want to be invited a bannable offense and brought awareness around disabling DMs. I don't understand belabouring this point. The fact that he did this is within that same post you quoted.

So if that was left as is, you'd have retards from A&H seething that HHH gave them a MATI sticker because they'd get an instant notification about it and they'd be too retarded to just disable those and stop caring.
Simply ban those users as they complain. Problem solved.

I didn't spend the last few days seething about this and demanding change, I just used the site's tools to stop that from happening.
Just because you don't feel like discussing a forum change that makes using the forum less easy and less fun with no benefit, is not an indictment of those that choose to do so.

Can you see why people don't find your argument compelling? Respectable decision to move on.

I don't care about sticker notifications, but I want the overall rating back. I like to watch my reddit karma go up. I've been watching it go up for years, though I had very modest returns because I'm not the best poster. I was almost to 40k, which I really wanted to get to.

Also I will be sad and disappointed if Tard Baby General gets changed. It's the best thread title on the site. Instead, the fat baby thread needs to be renamed to Lard Baby General (even though it's mostly dead).

I've always found the sticker notifications to be quite gratifying, particularly for older posts. I've gotten reactions to posts I've made several years ago ,that's caused me to revisit threads I'd forgotten about.

I have a suspicion that the stickers as a whole make a significant contribution to the level of engagement the Farms gets, especially for new users. It's nice to know when someone has read something you've taken the time to post. Also just taking the time to click a button to acknowledge someones post has an element of courtesy, that I think carries over to the wider site.

That's not to downplay one of the reasons for Null getting rid of them, the Official Kiwi Farms Man hate thread has driven some users fucking insane. Their complete inability to take a fucking joke and their need to somehow lash out in the only way they can is depressing.

I like to watch my reddit karma go up
I don't because it subconsciously makes me stop posting what I want to post to see it go up or down just so that it matches the post count in some autistic way so I can screenshot it because I am genuinely retarded. With it being gone from my view for good I can finally focus on just posting and not giving a fuck about which stickers I get and which way the number will go, because I don't see it, so I have no reason to care for it go up or down in some specific way.

That's the best change of this debacle that shouldn't be reverted, hands down. The notification part is debatable, but the exact reaction score visibility? Keep that shit hidden forever. Also, fun fact, reaction scores weren't really a thing on most forums for decades, and a lot of forums managed to thrive without them.

To me, my interpretation, the primary thing that separates KF from all other forums online is the US 1st amendment inspired, unofficial "theme". We all laugh at people like Patrick Tomlinson because he cannot handle someone calling him a "stupid fat faggot" on Twitter/X, this is the same concept to me. I would rather live in world were I know what people think of me especially if they hate me and hate what I have to say. If you cannot handle criticism? Go fuck yourself. There's always the Reddit safe space. All the trannys /jannies living off SSDI, spending 18 hours a day on Reddit will make sure nobody ever says anything "too mean".

*checks thread*

Hmm, better get Spunt in here, given he was and is by far the most "obsessed with stickers" member of the forum to get his opinion.
I believe I have stated my position in this thread already, specifically that removing sticker notifications is, and you can quote me on this, Gay Niggers.

Slav, your lack of self control isn't much of a reason for any change, never mind a change to other members usage of the site.

And before you say it, I've had reaction notifications off since my third day here and couldn't tell you what my score was because I never cared. About the only reason I'm paying any mind to this - apart from the amusement factor, is I really dislike the whole "You're doing it wrong" thing. This ain't a job, it ain;t super serious lives hanging in the balance shit - it's shitposting.
