I agree with the above in the context of *professional* sports. It’s also definitely a thing in pro hockey (rules allowing for checks, pest/enforcer dynamics and fights) and even pro baseball (throwing a close pitch to get the hitter to back off the plate.)

But it’s retarded NLOG posturing for Anisa to say that’s what she loves about sports while talking about being a player and ref *as a kid or teen.* For a youngster it’s just unsportsmanlike and dangerous. You need to learn the rules and prove that you can play by the rules before you get to bend them. You can’t risk kids getting hurt because they want to play dirty, they often have a more strict set of rules for under 18 players for exactly that reason.
