Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

I looked up the campaign. The art looks horrible. Reminds me of a random D list Image title from the mid to late 90s.

Its very much like the worst of Image. Similar to certain image creators, Malin just hired a team of people to produce Graveyard Shift 5 for him using his characters. He isn't really involved at all other than selling it with his name attached. In many ways, Malin is even more lazy than @FROG.

But you're forgetting that Malin is a former industry professional, so him outsourcing the work and slapping his name on it is good and right. Unlike when somebody who is not a former industry professional like EJ hires out an artist. Then the comic is shit and a travesty and the worst betrayal of comics evar.

Can we get tenapel out of qposting and have him join the rippaverse?
Despite there being no love lost between EVS and Doug, Doug still seems firmly planted in the Masterson/Rekieta camp, last I checked. And Masterson, as you know, is the Generalisimo in the anti-July crusade.

So, probably not.

But hey... stranger things have happened! Been a lot of unexpected defections and alignment shifts lately.

When Meyer said it it was a critique of the trend for the past 30 years of how American comics became a refuge for failed/aspiring Hollywood screenwriters along with editorial edicts to make comics resemble movie storyboards in the hopes of getting picked up for adaptation, resulting in a lot of boring, shitty, "decompressed" comics. Which was a retarded idea from the get go because Hollywood execs naturally just chose good comics to have their top screenwriters adapt into movies instead of bothering with shit comics trying to resemble movies. It's not that getting a comic adapted into a movie is bad, it's the observable shift of the medium towards optimizing comics for maximum movie optioning appeal at the expense of the comic itself that's bad.

The exception to the failures are the guys like Mark Millar or Joss Whedon - very established Hollywood figures - they can pay out of pocket to bang out storyboard comics on the cheap by guys like Cliff Richards, relying on their networking connections to get it optioned for a film rather than the quality of the artist. Then some youtuber sees "artist for Joss Whedon" and here we are.

Frog actually recommended the idea of Isom being adapted as a movie during the infamous Flashcast stream before things exploded, only for July to testily anger that "that's something you'd do but that's not what I'm thinking about".

Dax was on a show about serial killers as an extra. Specifically as an author/serial killer paraphernalia vendor.

Not significant, but it is pretty funny from a serendipity perspective. Particularly in light of his recent interview with the Potato Masher. Also @Null revelation that Dick is trying to break into Hollyweird.

The show is called "Based on a True Story". His scene is in episode 5 of season 1. The scene begins around the 4m45s mark(at least in the version that played on my tv) and runs until the 5m30s mark.

You can add failed actor, too, as I detailed in this post above in the daxipad thread. He just needs that big break, Dongs. None of us understand or appreciate the true splendor of his greatness!

Wasn't CG's biggest argument at one point the amount of cover variants that over-saturated the market and strong-armed LCS into buying multiple copies they can't sell in order to hit the goal to get special variants...

Hmmmm
The difference is that the customer doesn't usually have to buy a certain number of regular covers or a collective tier to get the variant they want. They just back the that variant. Also, they have done timed variants, but again if you want it you just back it in the allowed time. I say usually, and I may be wrong, but I think Frog has done a thing where you have to back his gay "executive" box to get an exclusive variant that is only in that tier. In this case, yea it's close to the mainstream model, but I have not sympathy for the retards that back it just to have the complete set.

Hey, something I agree with @FROG on. But at the same time, if people want it. Why not offer it? Finally find something you don't like making money on?

He might actually make a million in less than a day, that’s pretty impressive. Especially with the issues he’s having with people trying to hack his business Twitter.

He'll probably hit it by hour 12. He still has up 2.5 hours to go to hit it. Not sure when the members were able to get in though, so probably really 1.5-2 hours to go. Crazy.

Poor @FROG. I'm sure that trailer is just tearing you up inside.

Ethan? I'm not watching the stream so IDK. I don't see how he possibly could be. He's done nothing for the past year except trash Eric and the Rippaverse. Give us the deets. I want to know what his insane cope is.

EVS said he "hates to do it". That means he actually wanted to like it, but his high moral standards compel him to speak out.
What a hero.

Lol fat idiot always emphasized that the way to success was giving the customers what they want. I guess you better think about doing a crossover and borrow some of Rippa's 3D assets. because he's striking black gold hahahaa! I can see him looking in the bathroom mirror then collapsing in tears, "People still love Cyberfrog, people still love Cyberfrog, people still love Cyberfrog, I can fix this!"

I’m absolutely not a fan of EJ or his comics, but boy, what a truly emphatic ‘fuck you’ this is to EVS.

I have to hand it to Eric, the success of this campaign has fucked up EVS more than any retaliatory Twitter sperging ever could.

So, come Summer, Eric will have funded, fulfilled and completed multiple million dollar campaigns; all in the time it has taken EVS to splutter out Cyberfog 2, fail completely on Reingbow the Brute and Snowman, and flail around on CF3.

Death to Comicsgate.
