We will for sure. They might not be written by GRRM (thankfully even) but his publisher and HBO will put something out. Plus HBO already has plans to reboot the entire franchise in two decades time. The current Harry Potter show might as well be a test run to see how easy it will be to reboot Game of Thrones. But this time with a new ending and the show being rewritten around that eventual new ending.

Even if GRRM comes out and says that he wants the franchise to be left alone when he dies it won't matter.

I didn't know this. It's awesome news for me, but as you say, I certainly hope that George Martin (I refuse to say "George R.R. Martin", just like I refuse to say "J.K. Rowling", since authors who use pretentious initials are some of the worst kinds of people out there) won't be the main author. I read in this thread that there is a prevailing theory of a ghost writer for ASOIAF? If so, that would explain a lot, considering mr. Martins propensity for fat retardation.

I've honestly given up completely on entertainment in most forms, however, even literature. Not even most literature is worth reading, save for the classics — that's how much "current year", with all of its pozzed retards, have destroyed all things just and decent.

I was watching the Alt Shift X video on the "Real Jon Snow" from books earlier today. It was very enjoyable for the first hour or so, but once they got into elaborating theories of where Jon Snow could go in Winds Of Winter and Dream Of Spring things got a bit circular and the entire thing felt like a psychosis.

We might get Winds Of Winter before George RR Martin dies but definitely not Dream Of Spring. The fanbase has been wondering where things might go and picking at details and plucking at strings for so long that the entire affair feels schizophrenic. It's almost funny.

Maybe the best thing to do right now would be to make a CRPG where all the fan theories could potentially happen depending on player choice. I mean, how else would you reconcile Tzeentch-tier plotting and theory crafting with a writer who clearly doesn't care anymore and just wants to die fat and happy?

Yeah, the thing that drew me to ASX's videos is his knack for organization. When it's on stuff that's grounded in the books, his analysis is detailed yet comprehensible. When he goes into theories, that tidiness holds, but the overarching problem becomes that nothing has been happening for years in the lore, so a lot of stuff gets reiterated after so much time.

At least Warhammer 40k (the other universe whose lore I enjoy watching videos on and reading) gets updates with novels by authors and tomes from Games Workshop sometimes. Apart from some prequel stuff, ASOIAF has gotten nought moving things forward.

Wasn’t the point of authors choosing elaborate multi-initial pen names a strategy to engineer where your books end up on the shelf? I could’ve swore I read somewhere that the abundance of last names starting with middle-ish letters of the alphabet was so books would be at eye-level on a shelf and more likely to be noticed/bought? Not certain how first/middle initials tie into that other than “it sounds cool bro and is memorable”.
