What makes this rant extra crazy is that the suggestion is a well written, honest advice. There's zero troll baiting in what this person is saying, but it triggers Phil to explode and attack everyone and everything.
When you get past all the vitriol in this rant, it's really just Phil admitting how sad his life is. Expecting that he and his beloved wife sit down and enjoy a casual game while talking and laughing with each other is a totally unrealistic goal instilled in people's minds by fake streamers. His paranoia is getting out of control.
Finally gave it a listen and what was really amusing to me is that, despite what Phil was saying, he legitimately agreed with the suggestion multiple times. The suggestion basically boiled down to "pick a more light hearted and fun game you can both play and engage with."
Then Phil went on to say how the first stream was fun (only because they were making progress I should add, Phil said this multiple times) and then the second stream was boring and grindy and that's why they stopped it. He said it was the same with the Q&A, they were having fun with the first set of questions, but the second were stale and boring and that's why Khet looked unhappy and stopped doing it. It's almost like, they should find a light hearted and fun game they can both play and engage with.
I also like that Phil kept saying Khet didn't want to really be focused on chat and wanted Phil to carry that side of things while she did the gameplay, and then his brilliant idea is "next time, we're thinking about doing another Q&A stream." Yeah, I'm sure that'll work out great, because I know if I had someone that didn't want to focus on chat and wanted to play a game, the best stream for them is one where there's zero gameplay and only chat interaction. I don't foresee any issues with that.
The other bit that's great to me is Khet is basically just a representation of the average streamer viewer. She finds Phil's endless grinding and stalling style boring, thinks his chat sucks, and overall quickly loses his interest in his stream and just wants to do anything else.
Another interesting bit was Phil completely misunderstanding coop gameplay. He said Helldivers was a possibility, until they realized it wasn't couch co-op and online only. Maybe it's just the streams I watch, but isn't it super common for co-op streams to be online with voice chat? Which seems ideal if you have someone that wants to really focus on the gameplay aspect and not be on camera or interact with chat.
And that's only touching on like, a quarter of what Phil said. It really was a quality Phil rant, definitely worth listening to, even with the laugh.
