As for The Ark, shouldn't your titles be distinctive? Nobody hearing that is going to think oh yeah it's that book by Rick, considering if you search copyright records for that title, there are literally pages and pages of books called that, including other science fiction novels by actual writers, books about Noah's Ark, books about the Ark of the Covenant, etc.

I generally agree about distinctive titles, and avoiding titles that have already been used ten thousand times before. Though, there is something to be said for simplicity and if someone feels passionately about naming their magnum opus something simple like, "The Lake" or "The Jewel" then who am I to stop them. I am also a fan of single word titles.

But we know in Pat's case it was mostly likely the first working title he chose - what he called it in the draft - and then never considered changing it. "Starship Repo" is probably the peak of Pat's titles.

I like to think I'm not terribly egotistical and I'm open to criticism and feedback these days. It was put out the test when I hired someone to do a logo redesign. They challenged everything and it ended up being a mild brand retooling. I initially bristled at the thought. They were supposed to take my idea for a new logo and refine it! I've been modestly successful with the my own uncreative ass ideas, they should be good enough with some polish by creatives. They're changing shit just to change it! I genuinely felt threatened. Thankfully I'm not a fat retard and pushed back where I felt strongly about a couple things. We met in the middle, closer to their end tbh, and my business is better off for it. I can't see Rick ever going through that kind of process without childing everyone so much they tell him to fuck off and keep his money.
