I mean, Romania badly played the opportunism game, so of course you have to be nihilists about World War Two. You guys and Russia are like the only ones that switched sides
Badly?!?
We survived as a nation!
I would say, we fucked around and did NOT, actually, find out.
Also, HUGE difference between Russia and Romania. Romania was enthusiastically fascistic and we always had affinities with the Germans (and French, but they cucked out on the specific issues so we ditched them). Romania has a very long tradition of a specific flavor of anti-Semitism, rooted in power imbalances (most Romanians were peasants and under the rule of some foreign aristocracy, and Jews were the ones with the money, filled institutions etc.), the JQ was the most popular subject in politics in the 20s-30s as we sought a way out of Jewish influence and towards ethnonationalism, and on an on it goes.
And we really, really wanted Bessarabia back from Russia. And we generally disliked Russians (and Ukrainians, for good measure).
Russia was not really on the side of the Reich. Russia just wanted some land (how stereotypical). Russia never planned to fight with the Reich or become its allies. It always considered Germany as a threat.

It's not nihilism, it's pragmatism.
I do not want people to be able to blackmail us emotionally because of this past. I want them to fuck off and mind their own business. Trying to impose guilt on us means I will automatically see you as an enemy. Guilt ridden peoples are sad and impotent.
It was a huge war. We had our own geopolitical interests, and we got a tiny bit heated at times. A bit extreme, you know?
But that's something for us Romanians to deal with, within our own country, no need for Jewish NGOs and Americans and the EU crying crocodile tears about the evils of the past.
