"There are too many flat chicks, flat chicks are the straight white males of women, we need more representation for big tiddy chicks, chick with big fat cans, yes or yes? that will be $100k for my consulting"

And that's why misty has double-Ds in the next pokemon game.
I thought women in these games didn't have large breasts either because they were too young or because Asian women are generally more slender and less busty than other women.

Bleeding Fool: Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh Tries to Jump the GamerGate 2.0 Parade (archive)

Article looks like a recap of stuff already argued about in the thread a few days ago.
Didn't Walsh say video games were a waste of time at some point? Is there a clip for that?

It's a powerful display of something, all right. I like the people screaming outside in the sun, with masks on. They are the very pictures of health.

im not saying hate the guy, just dont take his word as gospel
I don't, but he does have an interesting take on the situation as a guy with actual AAA connections. He's not trying to shill a crowd funder every few seconds or just regurgitating the same tired stock talking points. His opinions make sense. eg. His claim that it's going to be about 7 years for the fallout of this to be seen, because that's how long AAA games take to make, and all the ones currently in production already have their funding.

Edit: To clarify, as someone who is an indie dev, I see people occasionally (not much now on account to not meeting devs in RL any more) who would claim to have all these AAA connections or to walk for major studios like Sega or Nintendo, only to have them answer any and all questions with "NDA" or other vague non-answers. Grummz doesn't really do that.

Millennials and gen z as a whole dont realize that passionate artists have a tendency to get pretty heated with their development teams. That's uncomfortable.
That's what I said to my old co-workers when they remarked that I ran the studio "like a fucking concentration camp". If the fire isn't raging, anything created will be worthless noise.

I played it too. If it was a thing today, it wouldn't stand out. Well proportioned women aside, it had the overwatch/fortnite mid 2010s slop aesthetic before it was cemented as a thing.
There's a Korean game coming out called The First Descendant that kind of feels similar although it's very much a different game. The way player character moves reminded me of it.
I actually got into both the Beta of The first Descendant and actually looking forward to it. Refreshing to see a Hero Shooter that is has beautiful people (both men and women) as the player characters. Compare that to the latest slop from Blizzard for Overwatch and the characters reach new heights of fugly.

In times like these, I often think of what Matthewmatosis said about God of War (2018) and remarked on how the industry has more or less achieved what gamers 10 or 20 years ago could only dream of...and everyone hates it.
Skip to about 32:00 into the video.

Any Konami experts want to weigh in?
Essentially Blaustein translated MGS1 in a very unique situation because it was one of the earliest games to have full motion cutscenes with voice acting and camera changes so the translation had to be tuned to the timing of the original cutscenes. There was no getting the dev team to tweak the timing of camera changes or animations etc. for localization. So he did have quite a challenge where the original Japanese dialogue would be like 8 words and there's no way to easily truncate that for English. Sometimes he had no choice but to take liberties with the original dialogue, other times he did it because he felt like it which is where the problems begin. Kojima got so pissed off about the changes he insisted from then on Metal Gear games would have 1:1 literal translations where possible instead of having some faggot like Blaustein come along and fuck up his scripts.

This is pretty mild compared to the way he really feels about MGS1. The way I've seen him talk about it, he's the reason it was such a big success in the west and it was his script that captured people's hearts back in the day. The game attached to it was just window dressing for his brilliant localization job. He talks the same way about the other titles he worked on like Silent Hill. Which is no surprise, last I heard he's quite friendly with MGS2 localizer Agness Kaku who had this to say about the source material she was localizing.

(The rest of the interview was cut off in the screencap I pulled up but it should give you a pretty good example of this person's mindset, and the mindset of ALL of these localizers)

I don't know if he or his consultancy firm is one of those ones that goes out of their way to pozz games like SBI, but he's definitely part of that breed of pigheaded parasitic localizer that has never produced a single original work themselves but are all too happy to criticize the work they're localizing and then take credit for its success later on.

About that Kotaku editor resigning....

I don't know how big Kotaku's staff is right now but I bet there's at least 5 of them. How hard is it to sit down, play a fucking video game and find out a guide to do something? Guess what, it's not. There are people that write guides for things as a hobby ffs.

Here, look, I'll fucking write one now.

Struggling at a Classic? How to get ahead in Heroes of Might and Magic 3 - Castle Edition

By Mr. Manchester - Someone who has actually played a video game.

Many classic games can be a challenge for a new player and Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is no exception! The first army you are likely to play as is the Castle army, which are the default medieval faction complete with knights and eventually the all powerful Archangel. Here's how to make the most of this surprisingly potent army.

Prioritize Archers: Archers and Marksman will be your bread and butter source of damage in the early parts of the game. Make sure to protect them with your pikemen. You will also need to upgrade the Archer's tower as soon as possible because two shots are better than one!

Make Friends: Knights and Clerics have quick access to the powerful leadership skill. Leadership makes it so you do not suffer from morale penalties when you have different units in your army. With this skill you can use powerful units from other factions and still get those extra turns. Make sure to pick up the rare Diplomacy skill which will have some creatures on the map just decide to join you, make diversity your strength! (Advanced tip: Recruit a second hero to follow your main around to hang on to extra creatures).

Resources Are Key: Don't ignore your city hall, you will need the extra gold. While adventuring flag every mine you can. Make sure to have a hero hang back at the castle in case enemy heroes start muscling in on your territory. Prioritize gems as they are important for late game units.

Build your Mage Guild: The Castle army utilizes the often under appreciated Water Magic skill. This lets you cast buff spells like Bless and Prayer but also gives you access to Dispel. At Expert Water Magic your hero can use the low cost spell bless to let every one of their units to do maximum damage.

Help from the Heavens: Archangels are arguably the best tier 7 unit in the game. They are fast enough to go anywhere on the map, are some of the hardest hitting units in the game and come with the resurrection ability which allows you to bring dead units back to life. Consider splitting your stacks of archangels into two units so that should one fall the other can bring back this expensive and powerful unit.

Disclaimer: Slavic strategies are likely too complex for Kotaku and would be excluded anyway to maintain Slavic supremacy in Heroes 3.

There, nice basic bitch starting tips and I'm not even Russian. Took me 10 minutes to type from memory. 7 more towns to spit basic advice and a bunch of strategies that people have known about for years that could be a 3 paragraph essay with some pictures slapped in there.

Lazy bums.

Listened to some takes with old developers like Tim Cain on this subject. Come to discover the millennial andvgen z mindsets really, desperately hate any kind of conflict whatsoever. That's not conducive to the process of true innovation.

Millennials and gen z as a whole dont realize that passionate artists have a tendency to get pretty heated with their development teams. That's uncomfortable.

Nowadays artist live in this world where they're actively denied the full extent of their artistic abilities because everyone they work with hates any type of conflict or aggressive passion.

Software though is all about communicating autistic nuance. I don't doubt that the workforce is full of whinny bitches but in programming if your boss is screaming at you for delivering it wrong (and you aren't totally green/overseas) he is probably the fuck up 9/10 times.

Based on what I know, he is a good developer but an inexperienced risk taking marketer and a poor manager/communicator. It also sounds like their concept was far too expansive for their budget and they sealed their fate when they took Chinese money.

This is about right, although I'd argue he's more a 'one trick pony' dev than anything.

They really fucked up their marketing and the game itself had issues and he just handwaves it all away. ("The gaming bus is still talked about, that means it worked! Other studios have done similar 'gaming bus', which means it was a good idea! Etc.")
