Dragon's Dogma

think people are a lil too knee jerky with the MTX stuff. i would like to point out that DMCV also has MTX, technically, and they're completely and utterly pointless. you can either buy 3 million red orbs for 20$, or spend 20 minutes in a mission with Faust and get double that.

it does not surprise me that DD2 has MTX and I'm willing to bet they're equally as worthless.

It looks to be a cutesy girly game aimed at young girls. Nintendo is smart to begin making games centered around Princess Peach as she is one of the most popular female characters next to Barbie and young girls loved her in the Mario movie. Parents of daughters will shill top dollar for a wholesome Princess Peach game for their daughters. Much like they do for their sons who love Mario. Say what you will about Nintendo but they know how to make money.
The rub is it is apparently pretty fun and the costume stuff gives lots of variety to the game play.

Silk lingerie got replaced by a very tame and stupid looking bikini.

I knew a literal thong was too based to survive in current year.

Current year morality is so weird. I can see all the thongs I want on literal 12 year olds at the beach but it's just too spicy for an M rated game with blood and dismemberment apparently.
I think I'll stick to the first game for my big monster killing itch.
something something dysfunctional modern sexuality
lol
BEGONE NIGGER

I played for 90m, which was me basically skipping cutscenes and dialogue and beelining towards the first big town.

My specs are 3080 Ti / i9 12900k / 32 Gb RAM / Win 10 and a 3440x1440 monitor.
I've set my resolution to Fullscreen 3440x1440, refresh rate to 60, framerate variable and vsync on. I didn't touch other settings and left them as the game set them up.
Until I arrived in town, I had constant 60 fps and in town, it dipped to 50 as I was running around like a retard, but would rise up and try to be at 60. Do note, I didn't explore the entire town, so it could get worse depending on the NPC density.
I played with K/M and the bindings are absolute dogshit, but that's just something you can always change yourself.

Make of this what you will, but I think I'll bite the bullet and keep the game. If I'm the thread's designated cuck, then as I progress I'll give notes as to the game's performance.

This is why I buy new games on my ps5. My pc would run these games better, but developers, especially Japanese ones, can’t be assed to optimize these games on pc. Hopefully it’s good. But if it isn’t, oh well. I’m used to most games being slop.

Everyone I know playing has had no issues with the game's speed.
They are also all using intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs, including a 2080ti.
It seems like AMD can't handle it.

Apparently, even if you delete your save from your game to try and make a new character, it won't actually apply the edited appearance because of the fact the character is stored on Capcom's servers?

Is that true? That's insane.
It's not true but it's annoying to have to deal with it, I have so here's what you do:

You turn off cloud saves and then delete the saves that don't start with "SS1_" from Steam\userdata\(YourSteamID)\2054970\remote\win64_save
Then when you're in game you just turn cloud back on and select "local copy" when steam says there's a conflict.

Note: The character creator save data is counted as Dragon's Dogma 2 save files, so do not clear your steam cloud of DD2 save files.

Unless you mean editing your character without deleting the save, I have no idea about that but it sounds like it's still cloud storage not being turned off and getting overwritten.

Seriously, Capcom?

Like, Baldur's Gate 3 got this right, straight off the bat.
Why can't you, you fucking money-gauging faggots?
If I wanted to change anything in BG3, they gave me an NPC to change it and made it a story thing.
Larian even gave players a magic mirror to change stuff.
Capcom says, "Nah, in our RPG, you gotta pay for all that..."

I mean look at this shit:

$40 worth of transactions on top of a $70 game!
What the hell is with this shit?!

For anyone saying that none of these are essential, here's the kicker: you cannot make a new character in this game.
1711087580000.png

Yes, you get one character, and if you want to change how they look, it cost $1.99.
How the fucking hell is that acceptable?!

Steam users already coming out in droves:

Capcom is dead.

That is awful. Who is that game made for? Is this one of those weird asian things where they'll spend heavily to buy everything little thing, like Pokemon obsessives? Who is paying $40 for clothing and fake money? How insulting.

Getting mine refunded. That is $100 better spent elsewhere. Buncha greedy fucks.

There is only one save file, and you can’t start a new game or create a new character from scratch. There is no option to delete your save file and start over. You have to disable cloud saving and delete the save manually in the system folders.

Also has anti-cheat for a single player game. Both of these decisions are to incentivize buying their micro transactions and hinder other methods of bypassing their purchases.

Why the hell would they make make people do all that?

One save file? I remember MGS Survive getting shit for this. MGS5 did it too but no one really talked about it, and you couldn't even buy another like Survive.
On your PC, you have to manually navigate to: your Steam user data file, select the Dragon’s Dogma 2 folder, search for the number Steam ID for the game, find the “win64_save” and delete that just to delete your cloud saves. That is completely asinine.

Maybe they will patch this out or something because whomever thought it was smart to release the game in this state was stupid...
...or they were banking on people just buying their micros by default without bothering with a workaround.
Regardless, this is fucking scummy as hell.
