He was a lot greasier and unkempt, but essentially yes he looked like that. I stayed for a year of his cringy, weird, creepy behavior. he bounced between wanting to be called Demyx (sp?) Or Roxas and NEVER shut up about his dream to go to Japan and meet his "real life waifu". Looking back, I should have seen the red flags. The first thing that raised an eyebrow was when he was surprised i was 16 when we met, and his reply to learning that was "wow, im usually attracted to younger women". Like sir? I am a younger women! I also wasn't a fat girl by any means, but he made it very clear that I could always be smaller because "Asian women stay skinny", and apparently that was his type. He tried going after my best friend (a beautiful Asian girl who's still my bff/life partner to this day), along with a few other Asian women during our relationship. None of them ever took the offer, quite the shocker indeed. I stayed for about a year (because younger me had no self esteem to call upon apparently),and when I was just about to turn 17, he had his next potential gf (a nearly 14 y/o I later learned) call me up to break up with me. Dude didn't even have the Ovaries to fucking break up with me himself. That girl didn't last long, and soon he was trying to walk my younger sister home (she wa barely 13). Thankfully, my sister was 10000% not interested in the offer, and he kinda buggered off out of my life until recently when he liked my profile on FB dating of all places. I'm guessing he realized his mistake though, or got banned or whatever because I couldn't find his profile a week later. Suits me fine, I'd probably try to weld his ass to the floor if i ever encountered him in person again. Now one of my favorite YouTube personalities has made a video showing to the world what a creep and a moron Adam is, and I am so fucking happy I subscribed to the channel! Thank you, Mr. Fate for making these videos and putting freaks like Adam on blast. Much love from this SE Michigan welder babe.

It's... complicated. Typically it means "partner you're committed to but not married to" and more often than not it means it's a gay thing.

The clip cuts just before Homer says that there's health benefits for him and his life partner, meaning Marge of course. So it's just one of those things that The Simpsons would throw in to imply Smithers is gay without actually coming out and saying so.

Oh and there are some people who refuse to get married for various reasons that use the term too.

Typically those are the types that like to say they "don't like labels" which is bullshit because every noun is a label. What they don't want is the baggage that comes with the term boyfriend / girlfriend.
