I don’t understand one thing though, do people who do this weird sort of “cleansing” of any content creator they feel goes against their so called morals to make themselves seem powerful to smaller creators, is it because they want to remove opposing views so that it seems every other content creator feels the same, or is it that they genuinely care? I have a hard time believing any of them care about anything, really.
I have a third option: power tripping.
Cleansing, banning, canceling, censoring, ruining a life-a project-whatever gives them a feeling of power, an adrenaline rush.
Being a part of a mob that's lynching someone makes them feel powerful, and "members" of a bigger collective.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone discovered that most of these zealots are incompetent morons with no skills, who can't build or create anything, who have zero creativity, and are only able to destroy. Of course they would never admit that, but I have the feeling that deep down, when they see something beautiful, they feel bitter and resentful for not being able to come up with something even half that good: at that point, destruction scratches that itch, plus gives them the reassurance "See?? They had made this thing which is wonderful, but they were horrible people!!".
Or, they're just the ones which got bullied at high school, never got out of it in their minds, and are now looking for their reckoning whenever they see people dogpiling on someone, trying to push their way through the mob so they too can get to kick the person on the ground.
Our age is the time in which losers, instead of being encouraged to become better, are given the power to destroy by gathering a mob.
And the red flag is very apparent and simple: if someone has really been sexually exploited, harassed, or whatever, they take it to court to get the perpetrator in jail (or something equivalent). They resort to social network lynching because they know good and well that nothing happened, and in court their case would be dismissed in no time due to lack of evidence.
This, again, is the age of little, bitter men who want to see others fall as a compensation for their failures or sufferings.
