Well I don't like make up, I despise it for a lot of reasons. The reality is and always will be though, if make up didn't exist you'd find out there would be far fewer attractive women.

Anyway, as I said it's all simmered down now. But I just wanted to post that experience because I think that's a uniquely "woman" way to react to - let's be honest - a pretty minor inconvenience. I can't imagine me, or really any man, reacting like that. Of course sometimes I get mad when she fucks up, but stomping around, slamming doors, shouting....whats the point? It's just not practical in any way, and I'm more about trying to fix whatever the problem is. You know, be useful somehow.

The other thing that pisses me off is how a minor offence immediately throws all the good things you've done out of the window. I'm not going to list them all but trust me, I've been on top dad/husband form for the past couple of months. You'd think that'd count for something - that you accrue some goodwill that can be offset against these situations, but no. That's not how it works. And God help you if you even try to bring that shit up in an argument. It just becomes a tit for tat competition of who's changed the most nappies.

And finally, just for balance, this is my wife of almost ten years who I obviously love, but this is the woman-hate thread and I just wanted to point out that even the best women who are like 99% chill still pull the same bullshit woman games from time to time.

Oh my god I'm having a stressful time of it this morning. I made an admittedly poor decision that ultimately means I've lost £65. My wife has been stomping around the house all morning, slamming doors and calling me every name under the sun. She's blowing it way out of proportion and trying to get a rise out of me.

It's taking every ounce of effort for me to not snap and tell her that while we have a joint bank account it's really my money since I earn the vast majority of it and always have done. I know that would just makes things so so much worse, but it's like she's begging me to say it.

So in the meantime I've got to just sit here and take the abuse. It's painful.

Not standing up to her behavior is the exact opposite of what you should do. Lowering yourself to her level is losing, but cowering in the corner is also losing. My wife doesn't throw explosive temper tantrums, but she has her own sort of childish fits (they all do), and when she throws one, I'll tell her that I'm done interacting with her until she's ready to behave like an adult. If being in the house has grown too uncomfortable, I'll go to a bar or coffee shop, or walk the dog. Don't give her the pleasure of having an audience for her tantrum.

yeah in my original message i said something along the lines of this. Make up is just another way to stand out and that will never go away.

But the beauty and cosmetics industry needs profit and innovation and sometimes does things that are more so worthy of critique as an industry rather than make up itself. Formulas, gimmicky products, solutions for made up problems, unrealistic before and after make up pictures that are airbrushed, etc.

I shut my office door and put on headphones if it comes to that. There's nothing Judas Priest can't drown out. It's really important to communicate your disdain for childish behavior first, though. Don't try to reason with her (she's a woman lol) or placate her with apologies (won't work) or act like you're cowering in fear. I'm actually sort of concerned about this. I've seen articles pop up here and there about how it's sexist to criticize astrology. The reasoning is simple.

1. Women are more likely to be into astrology than men
2. WOMEN ARE EQUAL, BIGOT
3. Therefore, calling astrology dumb is sexist

University science is already falling on hard times due to DEI and antiracism making it taboo to investigate the human animal a little too closely. We already have female-oriented departments based on the pure voodoo of critical theory (which builds an entire discipline out of ad hominem attacks and question-begging).
