Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

True if big.

I'm not wasting 34 minutes of my life on his ponitifications, but the full interview is available here. TL: DR, he wants 2022 borders now.
2014 borders are what the result of the negotiations would be:
“Zelensky said that once Russian troops retreat from these territories, Putin's support inside the country will be shaken, and Ukraine will not have to liberate all its territories seized since 2014 "exclusively by military means."

Did you really have to cram all those letters in there, while somehow forgetting about H?!

“Gitler” just sounds plain silly.
There's H in Cyrillic, its Х. I cant tell you why Russian uses G instead of H sounds specifically at the start of Anglo-Germanic loan words (Hamburg is Gamburg, Harry is Garry) but that's something that just happened at some point.

To confuse matters more, in the south of Russia and Ukraine, they pronounce words that start with G with an H instead, so "govno" (shit) becomes "hovno". One of the easiest ways to tell if someone is Ukrainian or from the south of Russia is listening for these little "khe" sounds at the start of words.

Yes.

Factually wrong. During GWOT, coalition was fielding Embraer turboprops in areas with no anti air risk because of the increased loiter time, slower speeds and better ability to observe and engage enemy during CAS
Sauce please. Not being a dickhead, but want to learn about it. I suspect these were done over "safe" areas, how combative were they. Educate me, please.

Already posted, but you can find more info by searching "Embraer super tucano CAS alternative" - you should find info about how the us mil was seeing if they wanted to supplement the A10 with it as an alternative CAS/observation platform

In that article there is mention that they are preparing new peace talks this summer in Switzerland and it is as clown world as last one.

Lmao they invited 160 countries , but didnt even bother invite only country that matters (Russia). Zelensky still wants to push his 10 point plan...
I really want to see Russia go on major offensive so we all can see Zelensky and his backers demanding Russian surrender from Switzerland while Russia is quickly taking more and more Ukrop land.

I guess all that cocaine has made Zelensky believe that delusional thinking will eventually become reality.

This "peace" summit is likely to be just US and Brits shaking pockets of other countries to see who still has something to donate for the war effort. So I can see why Russian officials don't see any point to attend. It's not a discussion about moving towards all benefitial peace, it's just another war coordination event.

No-one's flown propeller aircraft in combat since the Vietnam war. It's not just a single aircraft type, there has to be a training and logistics sweet associated with it and none exist. Everything is jet, except Tu-95 and that thing has a very narrow mission scope. So yeah in theory if a propeller type existed that could deliver payloads, it may be useful to some extent, but none are available. Plus we now have drones doing this type of work, which are even cheaper, so I don't see it happening.
That's not true. Prop combat planes exist and are used in the year of our lord 2024, although they are not used as extensively as jets of course. They can carry guided missiles and precision bombs, can perform ground attack roles and for some that's enough.

Ukraine even tried buying some of these Super Tucanos before.

CNN makes claims, their source provides no evidence

“Russia’s security services knew of ISIS threat before concert attack, new evidence from investigative body suggests”

You know that's not true because the Kremlin has been very consistent in their belief that Ukraine was behind it. They're trying to decieve people at home more than anything else.

I would like to remind you that a Ukrainian border guard recently made a video showing how he shoots Ukrainian citizens fleeing mobilization to Romania on the Tisa River.

He's been told. I'm fairly convinced the French want to lead a coalition of NATO nations into occupying Western Ukraine. That's probably easier to do if there's a ceasefire both for domestic opinion and to reduce chances of Russia blowing the crap out of some NATO unit. So, declare some sort of start to peace negotiations and a pause in fighting, rush Western European troops in all the way up to the Dneipr or beyond. Face Russia with a new stalemate in which if Russia renews operations they're now the aggressor on NATO forces (at least in Western domestic eyes).

Why that is just the cutest thing ever. It's like a British bulldog in a world of Pitbulls and Rottweillers. A scrappy little brick with an old world charm. I just want to cuddle one of those things.

I also like that it's a two-seater. Anyone flying out on missions should do so with a bud.

The most bizarre thing here for me is that usually it's the nebulous "enemy" propaganda that paints somebody as cartoonishly evil.

Ukraine's doing it all on its own and is proud of the fact that it pisses off some vatniks, international perception be damned (If they get upset they are putler shills).

You bring up a good point. There only a few alphabets widely in use worldwide, so most languages are written using an alphabet or set of characters that were not developed with that language in mind. My dad collects trench art from the first world war and had the good fortune to find a couple of French 75mm shells that had been decorated by an Ottoman POW. When I tried to do some research into the shells, I found out that the mottoes engraved on them were most likely the Turkish language but in Arabic script. This was always considered to be a very poor fit and was one of the reasons that Ataturk forced the Turks to start using the Latin alphabet.
The Hungarian one is phonetic, amd was redid in the 18-19th centuries by academics.

It usually has a 1-1 sound conversion, 44 letters, and unlike polish has no to very little double consonants. The only thing is that some consonants are made of multiple letters.

J in jungle is dzs, for dzsungel. I am not sure why they didn't make single letters for it, but the only problem comes from old time names that predate the system.

Since nobles wrote their names before the 18th century, they just did whatever they wanted, and the academics were nobles too, and thus kept the LY as an alternative spelling for J. Which is honestly retarded but it stayed. This is similar to phantom instead of fantom, or cunt and key.

Of course names, especially foreigner ones, make these rules bend.

Rotor plains sound good enough for stuff like India and Africa with a lot of people but limited cash. If Ooga the Warlord wants to bomb Booga the king, it is just fine for the task.

The Bolsheviks just won power, there’s famine and a civil war brewing. One of the first things they do? ORTHOGRAPHY REFORM!
Don't mean to join the alphabet discussion in this war thread but this was a fairly calculated and malicious tactic that had little to do with orthography. It was done so the books written in old orthography (specifically in Russian, no other spoken and written language in the Russian Empire afaik) could be labeled as outmoded and bourgeois, gathered up and easily disposed of. Not to mention that lenin's wife was in charge of this as well.

Well would you look at that, they are accussing a goverment of letting a terrorist attack happen on their own people despite knowing beforehand.
Just don't ask questions about 9/11 or any school shooting because then you're a conspiracy theorist

Weird how they didn't accuse Israel of letting Oct. 7 happen when they clearly did.
"Surprise" attack on the worlds most surveilled border with paragliders and heavy equipment to break through?

Lol, lmao even.

A new photo of Russian engineering has appeared on the Internet - a robotic complex with a PKT machine gun. - ISZ reports

The Novosibirsk Design Bureau "Spectrum" is developing the robotic platform "Ezhik-RSZO" equipped with a reactive volley fire system (RSZO). Executive Director of the organization, Andrey Bratenkov, reported this to TASS.

"The Bureau continues to expand the lineup of robotic platforms 'Ezhik.' The next modification will be equipped with RSZO for prospective 600g cumulative-fragmentation munitions. The RSZO, which will be mounted on the 'Ezhik,' will be capable of six launches. The armor penetration of the munition is 200 mm. Essentially, this will be quite a formidable machine capable of approaching a strongpoint and destroying it, as well as enemy armored vehicles approaching Russian borders," the developer stated.

According to him, mini-RSZO is planned to be used at short distances. "In open terrain, spotting a small green machine crawling towards you is not an easy task. For example, during the night, it's unlikely that a strongpoint will be prepared to repel an attack with mini-RSZO," Bratenkov added.

The platform will be produced in two versions. "We plan to produce two modifications - tracked and wheeled. Both versions have their pros and cons. We are considering how to combine both forms to have a wheeled base, but if necessary, people could change it to a tracked one. KB 'Spectrum' strives for modular platforms, standardizing our products as much as possible so that the control of drones - both aerial and ground - is carried out through the same control panels, via compatible communication channels, so that our soldiers don't have to carry a bunch of relay equipment," the specialist added.

Эксперт рассказал об особенностях нового дрона «Джокер»

Joker drones can carry 5 kg of explosives and fly at a speed of 100 km / h, military expert Viktor Litovkin told Izvestia on March 29.
According to him, the drone has two interesting features. First, it has a hibernator that allows you to disconnect its battery when the drone arrives at certain locations and lies down at predetermined points.
"In winter, it can lie down and wait for the command to blow it up for a week, in summer for a month. It can carry 5 kg of explosives and fly at a speed of 100 km/h," he said.
According to Litovkin, the second feature of the drone is an electric detonator, which can explode both from touching the drone, and from the fact that it is given a command, or from a set timer.
The expert noted that the UAV operator monitors what is happening around him, and if enemy units appear nearby, the drone is activated and hits the enemy. It is a time bomb. Litovski concluded that the mine in the drone is set to anti-handling devices, so if it is touched or the wires are cut, the drone will explode.
The overflight is normal: drone operators will be able to communicate with aircraft crews
How the allocation of a special frequency for this will affect the safety and speed of cargo delivery
Earlier in the day, Denis Fedutinov, editor-in-chief of the specialized publication Unmanned Aviation, RIAC expert, shared his opinion on the drone with Izvestia. He noted that the device has the function of self-destruction in case of failure to complete the task, so that the enemy could not use the device for its subsequent analysis.

Зенитная расстановка: в армии создают мобильные группы для борьбы с БПЛА

DRONES AIR FORCE (AIR FORCE) DEFENSE
Highlight the essentials off
Russian troops and facilities will be protected from drones with the help of special mobile anti-aircraft gun groups. Currently, they are being formed as part of several Russian combined arms armies, as well as the armies of the Air Force and Air Defense, sources in the Russian Defense Ministry told Izvestia. They will be armed with ZU-23-2 automatic cannons mounted on truck chassis, as well as pickup trucks equipped with large-caliber machine guns. The use of such mobile firearms is a cheap and effective way to protect against drones, experts say.
Time-tested
In addition to firepower, the new units will include electronic warfare equipment and smoke detectors, sources told Izvestia. The latter can cover the object with a thermal smoke screen, impervious to both optoelectronic systems and UAV thermal imagers.
The ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun is designed to protect slow-moving and stationary objects from strikes by tactical fighters, attack aircraft, helicopters and some types of drones. It has two 23-mm barrels, which can fire at a rate of 1.6-2 thousand rounds per minute.
The ZU-23, mounted on the truck chassis, was actively used during wars and military conflicts in recent decades. It has proven to be an effective means not only against air, but also against ground targets.
If the ammunition of anti-aircraft gun mounts includes explosive ammunition, then their effectiveness will be quite high, military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia.

Re: prop planes

>In 2012, $20 million were allocated to activate an experimental unit of two OV-10s, acquired from NASA and the State Department. Starting in May 2015, these aircraft were deployed to support Operation Inherent Resolveflying combat missions over Iraq and Syria, flying more than 120 combat sorties over 82 days. They reportedly provided close air support for Special Forces missions. The experiment ended satisfactorily, but an Air Force spokesman stated they are unlikely to invest in reactivating the OV-10 on a regular basis because of the overhead cost of operating an additional aircraft type.
