Most autistic thing you've purchased lately - c'mon feel the cringe

My purchases grow increasingly more autistic. I finally found a copy of the OG Star Wars trilogy on VHS because I always wanted to re-watch the movies before they started putting CGI in them. I digitized them so that I could watch them later

Next month, I’ll be spending my money on nothing but Elvis Presley memorabilia because I don’t like the way how his legacy has been treated in the last few decades.

I’m talking Elvis T-shirts, Elvis CD’s, Elvis hoodies, *Elvis posters
Maybe, but I’m on the fence of that one
Resale stores have been getting a lot of Elvis merch because most kids don’t care about him aside from his music. So I assume you will probably have a pretty easy time finding a lot of his things.

Good huntin’ brother.

Mcronalds Wcdonalds ad signs they put on the little part of the counter near the registers, probably could have gotten some for free if I knew the right people but I don't so I'm just gonna have to deal with paying money for stuff that would have ended up dumpstered if people weren't deciding to start selling them.
I'd have bought some of the promotional "trading cards" they put out for the sauce thing but some guy in California seems to be squatting on a bunch he's trying to sell as a set of 9 for almost 200 dollars each so if people start to sell theirs based on his example I'm never gonna be getting those lmao.

I know this is off topic, but what is going on with his legacy? I guess I don't follow current stuff so maybe I'm out of touch.
From my experience, I personally blame old school hip hop for suggesting that Elvis was not “real” enough because he was simply white, despite the fact that he possibly did more for black people in America for making them appreciate soul and blues.

Granted, it was decades ago, but I still think about it to this day.

A travel bag for toiletries.

It's Kuromi patterned.
That’s pretty dope.
Will you get to see totality where you are? I saw the 2013 eclipse. Indescribably beautiful. The most awe inspiring, closest thing to perfection you'll ever see is the Diamond Ring, and it is there and gone in an instant. I cried like a pathetic little bitch with a skinned knee when I saw it, because I knew I'd never see anything that perfect in my life again.
Dude isn’t the eclipse amazing? I’m making a bit of a drive so I can get around 2 1/2 minute of totality and I am so fucking psyched.

I highly recommend the hard plastic eclipse glasses, way more comfortable to wear for an extended period of time.

Sorry to hijack your post just one of those things I thought other kiwis should know exist. Home Depot carries them.

Thread tax - this might be a new level of autism for me. I’ve always enjoyed small CRT displays and I found a new in box 2.5” portable Sony crt for $25. The only downside is that it has zero external inputs and a soldered antenna. So it’s a paperweight.

Or it was until i also spent $150 on a fairly beefy UHF transmitter. With the included antenna completely extended I should be able to broadcast my AppleTV output over the air to channel 69 anywhere in my neighborhood.

Mini pirate TV station wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card but I’m here for it.

You could always find the De-specialized editions or other similar fanedits online. I could even be of assistance.
Still good to have a VHS copy tho.

Are we talking about a pocket television? I'm sure r/vintagecomputing would appreciate a post about your pirate analog broadcasts of MATI.

It’s all good, I did try asking for digitals on one of the threads at one point but I realized if I got the VHS’ I could digitize them myself (I don’t trust other peoples recordings) and you can resell the VHS’ for 30 bucks if I’m really desperate

Otherwise it was fun memberberries.

TL;DR: big cope

Yup, stock photo for reference. And I def need to stream MATI for the lulz.

Bro, all you need to do is hit up the internet archive. 4K77 is what you’re looking for. It’s the original, unedited film 100% restored from an original 35mm print. Looks absolutely stunning. 4k83 is also out atm as well.

Still, if you need links for the despecialized ones or 4K77/80/83, let me know.

I decided to treat the Mrs today because she's been going above an beyond while I've been fighting this chest infection, so we got in the Van and drove to this fabric shop that has collections of OLD fabrics either custom remade by the factory if possible or original bolts or lengths of fabric going back before WW2 not to mention buttons, hooks etc and let her go wild - let's just say it was good we where in the Van or we might have had to make a few trips.

The Cat's already sporting a new collar... She keeps eyeing the dogs up... an occasionally me... send help.

Other than that I bought myself a couple of books now that I can focus long enough to read again.

Bandai Hi-Metal R Votoms ATM-09-RSC Scopedog Red Shoulder Custom.

Looks great and nicely poseable. Lots of metal in the joints gives the Scopedog a nice weight and balance.
Shelves are getting crowded though. Hi-Metal R Scopedog Turbo Custom due out in October on Bandai Tamashii and they've already got my order.

Is it an FD-230 or a different model? Some Watchman models had a weird-looking A/V input that used a 3.5mm jack adapter:

Similarly, some Watchman models and other older pocket/portable TVs had an external antenna jack that also used a 3.5mm jack, but it was RF only. It had it's own little adapter for twinlead:

You could then daisy chain an rf switch box and rf modulator to get whatever signal you want through there. Bit of a spaghetti mess, but it works.

It is an FD230 but it doesn’t seem to have an external input of any type unless I’m 100% missing it. Thankfully my UHF transmitter arrived and has been doing the job.

Thread tax - not super autistic but I purchased a 10x10 custom tent for my small business today, kinda excited.

My grandma used to collect Elvis memorabilia when I was little. She had this little clock where Elvis's legs swayed back and forth as the clock ticked.
I recommend the Christmas ornaments. Especially the Carlton Cards ones cause you candisplay them year round if you wanted to.
