RIA news agency said at least three people in camouflage clothing had opened fire at the Crocus City Hall, and that some people had been wounded.

Police had arrived at the scene, RIA said.

Video footage published on Russian social media channels showed chaotic scenes, with a large crowd of concertgoers attempting to flee the hall, followed by gunshots.

Other video footage showed a number of people lying motionless in pools of blood outside the hall

Reuters was unable immediately to verify the footage.

TASS news agency reported an explosion and a fire in the building where the shooting took place.

The Kommersant newspaper posted footage online showing smoke billowing from what it said was the concert venue building.

Russia is also losing and probably by more.
Russia has gone through full war mobilization of troops and heavy industry.
They're now making 6 times the number of artillery shells the west is, because the west CAN'T due to "green policy" killing its domestic heavy industry.

In a war of attrition, whoever has the superior industrial capacity wins.
Russia has reached win condition and it's all over but the crying.

The perpetrators of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall could have had computer chips implanted in their brains to fully control their every action, Vladimir Ovchinsky, adviser to the Russian Interior Minister, said on Channel One.
This has to be the first time in history there has been a country with a terminal case of brain drain. Interesting to see it play out in real time.

Unless Russia is planning to wage war with other countries then those shells with rust in a storage unit with the war economy imploding. Shit I'm pretty sure most modern armies don't use artillery that much anymore.

you are delusional
the russia ukraine war has been a gigantic artillery slugfest for years now, especially from the russian side. the place is looking like a smaller scale version of the WW1 western front.

Yep.
Artillery is still king of the battlefield for very good reasons.
The only real change since WWI is the accuracy and timeliness of the targeting.

Why not add to the count how much the sides use horses if we've decided the next world war will use ww1 tactics?
Modern DATALINK equivalents and battlefield surveillance layered all the way into space transform WW1 era dumb tubes into precision weapons capable of being put through individual tank hatches.

Targeting computers take in the surveillance data and provide dumbed down instructions to grug, tug, and brug the artillery crew so they hit a moving tank over the horizon.
The results have been an absolute embarrassment for NATO and allies, who thought only they were capable of this.

Yeah because most modern armies don't actually fight in wars :story:

It takes a special breed of deluded to look at an honest to god near-peer conflict, see that artillery is literally the most important thing in that conflict, and then be like "hmmm nah artillery is bullshit nobody even uses that"

What are you basing your statement on, your experience in the IDF sitting behind some Merkavas calling in air support to drop a JDAM on a house because you think someone might be inside it?

The important thing is that Russia is also losing and probably by more.
Where are you getting the impression Russia is losing? Didn't Zelenskyyy just come out and say Ukraine will need to retreat if we don't fork over another 60 billion dollars or something? He did, I just checked. I suppose you'll somehow find a way to say this is some 4D chess strategy by the Ukrainians and everything is just fine though.

Since we're speaking in ww1 terms here, I have to inform you there's this new invention called the aeroplane, Russia can make a billion artillery shells and none of them will ever reach the frontline of countries with actual air force. Russia is basically falling into the retard trap of preparing for a new war as if it was the previous one, except it's not even the previous one but the one before that.

They've been fighting for two years in a stalemate against farmers with RPGs and barely gaining ground. People claiming Zelenskyyy is gonna fall are just as gay as "DRUMPF IS FINISHED". When Russia finishes the war it can claim a win, but I doubt half a million dead soldiers will be worth it.

A gigantic trench hellhole is not just "ww1 tactics." It's how pretty much every conventional war since the Crimean war where one side doesn't win in the first few months has gone. Modern artillery systems have only solidified that.

I don't think I can think of a single example of a conventional war after the 1880s where the fighting phase lasted for more than six months that did not involve extensive trench warfare. If there's some I'm missing there's not many.

I can't imagine the world that this is considered an own. "Enjoy the ability to strike at your enemies most vulnerable locations with minimal risk to yourself".

I think I shall
Yeah, that's why you and your countrymen will continue to engage irregulars and civilians in Gaza and do very little else. Easy to accomplish air superiority over them.

If someone does have air superiority, conventional artillery is either short-lived or unnecessary.
Arguable at best.
An artillery emplacement is cheaper and faster to provide support than an aircraft by orders of magnitude.

Air strikes are the ultimate counter-battery.
If your enemy has air superiority your artillery disappears rapidly, but if you have air superiority it gives cover for you to use artillery more effectively.

Except the previous wars against countries like Egypt in the Six Day War that might have had a lot of artillery shells but basically evaporated against Israeli air superiority. Heck Israel is still routinely attacking strategic targets within Syria with impunity. It's not some magic solution, but basically hard counters tank lines and undefended supply lines (which are probably already bad in Ukraine and will get worse if it expands).

And Guerilla warfare is an issue to virtually every army since genociding the enemy is no longer an acceptable option.

The I in BRICS is Iran.
Russia is a patron state of the jihadis.
There has been no pattern of jihadi attacks leading to this one, and the explanation makes no sense because of it.
It would be like blaming BLM for an attack on George Floyd's family.
Ummm.... The I in BRICS is India.
