Back when the Snowden leaks were hot shit, Applebaum as dropping CIA and NSA manuals and tech catalogs, and there were like 4 or 5 separate leak ops going on, one of them outlined some of the criteria to get "put on a list" and the one the sticks with me to this day, was "knowing how to sew."

No idea what the concern was there. Whether they were worried about keeping tabs on people who could create their own tactical gear, plate carriers or s-vests, or what the angle was. But if the lady down the block who hems slacks on the weekend is on a list, everyone is on a fucking list.
