Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

But the fog, red tint, bussing and lava IS the atmosphere for TranZit. You're basically asking for something else. That's like wanting Silent Hill 2 without the low draw distance. Or Jean Harlow without her "trucker" tone of voice.
Tranzit was originally going to have no fog and no lava, you know. I do like this post apocalyptic atmosphere, you know, I just wish it didn't interfere with the gameplay.

Have they made the zombies mode playable solo yet or do you still have to play on a map with other people doing their own things?
Zombies in a really weird way feels like a succesor to the original dead rising in that it requires time management and zombies don't become a big issue until level 2. I personally have a lot of fun with it.

Remember how Cold War used the Tianmen Square footage in it's trailer, along with Yuri Bezmenov's interview?
Yeah, they removed the Tianmen Square footage from trailer after China bitched at them.

COD is safe-edgy at best, completely toothless at worst. Don't forget that the DOD has their fingers in the game as well, since it used to be quite a bit of propaganda for the Army back in the day(one of the reasons we never got a dedicated Vietnam game)

I don't remember the specifics of it, but even though I was gone from CoD long before MW2019, I recall that someone complained about a multiplayer map over something fickle like a picture on a bathroom wall or some Arabic script that offended them, and IW cucked and changed it. At that point I figured it was the beginning of the end when it came to CoD portraying countries however they wanted.

The entire plot of MW 2019 felt like CIA propaganda, including having the towelhead leader being a young woman "because there's no time to be sexist in war" or whatever, as though in real life, the leader would be anything other than a respected tribal leader who has killed men with his bare hands.
Well yeah, it was ridiculous when it was announced in 2019. Anyone with a remote understanding of Islamic culture knew that Farah was a joke who would be stoned to death within seconds if she tried to exercise her 3/5ths of an opinion, entirely divorced from how much of a girlboss they tried to paint her as.

Oh, I remember that story. It was the Favela map from MW2. This was three years after MW2's launch. Islamic law says that holy teachings cannot be transcribed or written in bathrooms. Bonus: here's some gaming journalism responding to this outrage.

There's also certain parts of the Qran that cannot be sung, and 50 cent got into trouble for having it in Arab Money.

Quick correction: Busta Rhymes is the rapper in Arab Money, not 50 Cent.

Back to Call of Duty: I disliked Favela in MW2. The vantage points with the buildings being ambushed from above made it a chore to handle IMO.

And it kinda ruined the story, not just because of a woman leader being inauthentic, but because leaders of rebellions aren't the people who are just best at being bossy. All of them, from George Washington to Mao Tse Tung, spent years building loyalty through action and word. She wasn't just a woman, she was also very young, and making such a retarded choice poisoned the entire story. The structure of the rebel group made no sense, so the story and dialog made no sense either.

The same thing happened with MW2, which somehow managed to be even more retarded, where a rogue American PMC decides to roll across the Mexican border, take over a Mexican military installation, shoot everyone, and then start murdering everybody in a nearby town, and this is somehow not an international incident. They don't even try to make this shit make sense.

MW2019 was the conflict in Syria written by an idiot. Outside of all the other inconsistencies (which could either be creative liberty or simple retardation, genuinely hard to tell), I don't think they really understood how the rebel groups in Syria work, or how rebel groups in general form. So it became a singular good guy resistance movement, of course built by(?) and around the plucky female rebel leader because that's how this shit works, right? And of course not-ISIS Al-Qaeda Al-Qatala are rebels who simply want to be bad guys while being rebels, because heaven forbid they acknowledge religious and nationalist extremism.

MWII is Sicario written by an idiot. You of course have the main plot of cartels smuggling weapons across the border, but instead of being a commentary about how the USG works with some shady groups and does some shady shit for the "greater good," the PMC hired by the gov just goes bad for some reason, so there can't be any moral greyness in the story at all.

I guess what I'm saying is it makes more sense when you realize they're taking "inspiration" from something else, but don't have the brains or the balls to actually utilize the thing they're taking inspiration from.

Figured you guys might be interested in this; someone was posting about MWIII's Matchmaking.

Completely pointless videos. It doesn't matter what the notes say, those people wouldn't even start to believe anything other than "yeah we do have SBMM, you guys win, you figured it all out since you're super smart, you have ten-inch dicks, and your parents love you". It is Activision, so not trusting shit makes sense, but then it's a stalemate that I don't get the point of making videos about.

Who is to blame for the frantic, "advanced movement" tech from MW2019 onward? The community or Activision? MW2019 was supposed to be more tactical with the engine revamp. So why in the God damn are soldiers slide cancelling, bunny hopping, strafing to and fro like spastic teenagers?

Call of Duty: Vanguard apparently sold "30 million copies" according to Social Media Strategist at Activision

What do you mean? This type of gameplay has been common for years now. I would say Call of Duty Advanced Warfare popularized it by introducing the idea of "advanced movement", but bunny hopping and the like really started to pick up in Black Ops 4. That game originally had jetpacks, but when they removed it they forgot to remove the advanced movement mechanics. This lead to Black Ops 4 meta being really fast paced, almost like the games of old where you would constantly be on the move and use all sorts of obscure movement quirks to get the upper hand. MW2019 must have looked at it and decided they wanted some of that too(except it didn't matter cause most people just camped in that game, and the maps/meta/devs fully encouraged it).

There's an endless back-and-forth between people who want the game to feel like "somewhat straightlaced military shooter (but not so straightlaced I can't drop a nuke on you, lmao)" and people who want it to be "ultra competitive spazlord arena shooter."

I just want it to be fun.

It's not going to be fun, and it will be neon-infested schlock. Treyarch is no different from any of the other studios, remember, they made BO4 and BOCW. Both games filled with retarded shit and garbage gameplay.

Anybody remember MWII? No? You know MWII failed as a CoD when nobody talks about it. More than that, it's hidden within the CoD HQ launcher underneath its intended DLC, MWIII. Its Escape from Tarkov knockoff, DMZ, was preemptively killed off in favor of MWIII. Carry Forward is reduced to an idea over transferring progression between launches. Oh, and no MW2 maps AFAIK.

How long has MW2 maintained its popularity after launch? Six, seven years?

The regular Russians were very obviously the Putinists. "Are these the good guys?" "Well, they're not the ones shooting at us." That was pretty much the US attitude toward Russia in 2007.
