People wanted him to be alive on here because they were worried him being dead would affect the forum's future existence, not because they actually cared about him. Trying to make this situation into the posters on here having some unrecognized heart of gold is cringy.
Speak for yourself. Some of us hoped that he was still alive. A man who is alive is a man who still has a chance, however small, of getting his shit together. A man who has an heroed has no such chance.
Also, for all the people who said Byuu was an autist, his spouse said he self-diagnosed that he was autistic, he was never properly diagnosed by a mental health professional. The only mental issues he was officially diagnosed with was ADHD and depression.
Aren't ADHD and autism officially considered the same mental illness now, much like Asperger's and autism used to be? Supposedly the only the difference now is how severe it is, with the more severe cases manifesting more and more of the family of symptoms. With him officially being ADHD, an autism-like hyper-focus on cycle-accurate emulation doesn't surprise me at all. And AFAIK, depression is often co-morbid with, and a diagnosing criteria of, autism, Asperger's, ADHD, or whatever the fuck it's called now.
I could forgive them not being able to find the address in time since after all the man was a recluse with tight opsec. But I have serious questions for the caller and why the doc doesn't talk about them attempting to console Byuu or do literally anything besides listen to his French music.
This is what gets me about the whole affair. Someone who is supposedly your friend calls you, tells you he's taken a lethal dose of drugs and is about to neckrope, and all you do is fucking sit there? You don't get on a shared Discord server and raise the alarm in mutual circles, you don't try to talk him down, you don't do anything. You just sit there. WTF? I can understand the skepticism others have expressed.
The most charitable take I can have on this, is that it's true: said anonymous mutual friend, in fact, did absolutely nothing on the call. Maybe he was tired, and not fully comprehending what Byuu was saying. Maybe he was in shock at the idea. Maybe he didn't believe it because supposedly Byuu had suicide-baited before. Then it turns out, Byuu really
is dead, and the guilt comes crashing down upon him. So he goes all in on trying to blame the Kiwi Farms, someone,
anyone, other than himself, in the naive hope that doing so will clean the metaphorical blood from his hands.
<A portrait of Byuu's husband>
Goddamn. Reading hard evidence that Byuu was dead was already bummer enough, but this is genuinely heartbreaking. That poor man.
I suspect that somebody egged him on to kill himself and blame Kiwi Farms to "give his death meaning" or something like that. Who that might have been, I have no idea.
My gut reaction would be
Hector Martin, given how hard he pushed the who narrative of the Kiwi Farms bullying Byuu to suicide. But maybe that's just cynicism on my part.
Hector Martin wrote the byuucide letter, and I have scientific proof of it.
Or maybe not cynicism, so much.
I am probably remembering this wrong, but during one of Balldo Nick's streams (I forget which), the topic of Byuu's suicide came up, and the notion of culpability via
Depraved Heart Murder (
Archive) was offered.

The trans apologist Nick was debating claimed that telling someone clearly suicidal to carry through with it could qualify. Therefore, the Kiwi Farms was culpable for Byuu's suicide. Nick argued that's not what happened.
Above, Real Slim Shady has evidence that Hector Martin wrote the suicide note, not Byuu, not someone else. You know what would be awesome? Other evidence coming out that Hector Martin was involved in Byuu's suicide, and Hector Martin facing Depraved Heart Murder charges for encouraging or assisting it. That would be awesome. Or perhaps Byuu's widower securing civil judgement against Hector. That would be
actual justice for Byuu's death, not the DDoS attacks, deplatforming, troon wailing, and all the other bullshit the Farms have endured over past few years.
Ginder was socially isolated and lacking in perspective because he was mentally ill. He wasn't mentally ill because he was socially isolated.
I'm going to partially disagree with you. An underlying mental illness might be the initial cause of Ginder's issues, but things like social isolation tend to make active symptoms of those mental illnesses worse, and the two factors then tend to reinforce each other in a cycle of mutual feedback. Conversely, when someone has a strong social support network, someone can have those underlying conditions, but having meaningful human connections and touching grass on the regular keeps those demons at bay, without even needing medication. I have seen both cases in my social circles, online and offline.
My first impression when I saw his photo was that he looked
hypogonadic. Ginder's absence of libido, lethargy, depressed mood, and the apparent failure of his facial vellus hair to change to terminal hair (i.e., his lack of beard) are consistent with hypogonadism.
Upthread,
@AssignedEva quoted one Sobodash as claiming that Ginder's husband had taken him to get an orchiectomy on the down low. If that's true, then being hypogonadic makes sense, and is almost certainly a factor in Ginder's deteriorating mental state.
