Sadboi comics really started because of the success of Blankets and they don’t get it succeeded because it was the first major graphic novel like that. Same with Watchmen as a takedown of superheroes. They don’t get that it’s been done and unless you have something new and unique to say, no one wants a retread of them. Though it’s fun to watch indies get assblasted over how overrated they are while they desperately copy them.
Fuck me I hate Blankets. Maybe I hate it more for it's influence, but I sure remember thinking Craig Thompson was a insufferable twat in that.

I can never tell how self-aware Thompson is. Blankets is very much an adolescent's book but he wrote in his early 20s and he was capturing himself. If nothing else, his art is nice. Goodbye Chunky Rice is way worse about being up its own ass. Space Dumplins is his kid book and it is good, but apparently didn’t sell well or at least as well as his other stuff. His latest work is Ginseng Roots, which is more of a return to Blankets autobio stuff, which I haven’t had a chance to read all of, but is a little more interesting since he actually talks with all of his family.
Eric inadvertently made EVS look incompetent by showing you can make a shit ton of money in the indie scene while getting your books out on time instead of making people wait years. He also wouldn't be EVS' ballfluffer and called him out on acting like Dick Masterson wasn't actively fucking with him out of spite
It's what I and other ex-CG people have been waiting for... but right now most of them are still scared of @FROG and his Gay Ops Army! That has to give him some satisfaction. I think it's still going to take some time before people realize that Ethan's reign of terror is coming to an end. I think it's going to take something big and definitive before people find the balls to give him a collective finger.
I created this when Ethan said the thread needed to attack July more and forgot. Since Ethan has given the go ahead to make Cyberfrog a white supremacist figurehead i figured i'd take up his call now. Lynching a black men as a white woman stands around eating fried chicken... It's clear why C2E2 refused to allow the creator of such a character at their show.

If your "careers" are that fragile then you don't really have careers. You can block people in chat you know. If the only people who will buy your product are EVS simps then it's already over for you.
