It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

In Japan, there’s a cultural narrative that’s less often shared with the world: the realities faced by single mothers. Despite Japan’s progressive strides in many sectors, the topic of births to unmarried women remains largely taboo, with deep-rooted social and economic implications.

Is that by a journo who's implying that children born out of wedlock is "progress"?

When we moved state back when I was a teenager, we arranged for my GSD to be boarded out and driven up. There was a mistake in the scheduling, and we almost lost him forever...

...because the tart ended up in a depo for five hours, and proceeded to charm everyone onsite. When pick up finally came for him, he'd been on a dozen walks, was stuffed full of treats, and was in the office being cooed over by all the office chicks, lapping it all up and enjoying himself immensely. They had to be persuaded to give him over to the transport staff. He was such a whore.

God, I miss him.

In summer, UPS delivery trucks frequently drove with their doors open for ventilation, at least until one of our big, scary looking dogs jumped in as it drove up the driveway.
We were expecting the worst, but by the time they parked they had made a new doggie friend.
Now, remember how (justifiably) paranoid delivery men are of dogs being dogs, especially large Satanic black dogs. That is how charming and obviously friendly he was.
The more people I meet, the more I miss the dogs in my life.

Sanctuary throws birthday party for 17-year-old duck

An animal sanctuary in Rhode Island threw a party to celebrate an unusual milestone: a rescued duck's 17th birthday.

The West Place Animal Sanctuary threw a birthday party Monday for Erna, a crested pekin duck rescued in 2007.

Wendy Taylor, founder and executive director of West Place Animal Sanctuary, said Erna isn't just a resident at the sanctuary, she's also volunteered her time with dozens of ducklings, goslings, poults, chicks and cygnets.

"She is an incredibly special duck, and her motherly instincts have helped us save lives and raise orphaned birds at the sanctuary," Taylor told WLNE-TV.

Taylor told The Newport Buzz that Erna is a "constant source of inspiration and joy."

"Her maternal instincts have not only saved lives but also enriched the lives of both humans and animals alike," she said.

Crested pekin ducks typically live about 12 years.

"This is a major milestone for Erna," Taylor said. "For a variety of reasons, farm animals do not often make it to old age. She has given the humans and the animals of West Place so much and in turn, West Place has given Erna the greatest gift of all -- the opportunity to grow old."

Erna still has a ways to go if she wants to earn the Guinness World Record for oldest duck ever. The title belongs to a pair owned by Gladys Blackbeard of Grahamstown, South Africa, who lived to the age of 49.

Chaos broke out at Israel's parliament the Knesset amid an ongoing multi-day protest led by hostage victims' families which is being staged just outside. For the first time, on Wednesday demonstrators overwhelmed the Knesset while it was in session, and smeared glass panels of the guest gallery with yellow paint.

They shouted: "Do not go on summer recess at our expense," and "There will be no recess until the last captive is returned" while security fought to get the group under control. Watch below:

The whole ordeal did cause a disruption in a plenary session of lawmakers, until police were able to clear the building of all demonstrators. The protests, which have included people camping in tents across from Israel's parliament and other government buildings, even the prime minister's private residence, are entering their fifth day.

Oprah isn't welcome anymore in Maui.

Oprah isn’t welcome anymore

By Susan Daniels

The day after the August 7th fire in Lahaina, Oprah Winfrey brought pillows and blankets at the War Memorial Stadium on Maui. The 1,000 people who sheltered there were grateful. They had escaped the fire with the clothes they were wearing.

Perhaps her largesse caused her to believe that what she had done gave her entree to those who were so devastated, not knowing where their family, friends, or even pets were. “Ohps,” as she is called by some residents, showed up two days later with a CBS camera crew intent on filming the misery of people living in tents. That unsuccessful attempt turned any previous goodwill against her.
When that debacle was followed by her promise that she and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, would start a $100 million campaign for Lahaina fire victims by each donating $5 million, things went from bad to worse.
“Ohps” owns two houses, an airplane hanger, a private road, and 1,000 acres of land on Maui.

She was accused of playing the victim and officially became persona non-grata and fled the island without donating any money, according to residents. Johnson donated his promised $5 million and also left the island. “Ohps” has still not returned to Maui and residents make it clear they don’t want her there.

Most cruise ships are about 1,000 feet long and 120 or so feet wide, making them about 120,000 square feet in total. You would need 363 cruise ships, then, to cover 1,000 acres.

A new craze for a drug derived from crushed vehicle exhaust filters is rattling authorities in Kinshasa, triggering a campaign to stamp out the concoction and a related rash of car part thefts.

I don't know how this shit keeps happening, it's like an every half year occurrence, It's gotta be maintenance people just forgetting to close them or not fully locking them in place. I know after a particular bad incident where one came off and caused a fuel leak + fire that wouldnt extinguish airbus added high visibility flags and paint to them, not sure if boeing did the same since they are cheap fucks.

It's probably the latches failing if they are poor quality. But with more and more failures I'm beginning to wonder if Boeing will reach a singularity where their entire fleet gets grounded for repairs. I would hate to be one of their accountants right now, their finances must be looking pretty bad if they had to slow down construction of new planes so much.

I really hope they work as a canary that forces other companies to revisit their bean counting strategies and realize they need to start reinvesting in their fundamentals.

I don't think so in this case at least, both of them came off during the same flight. Really seems like a maintenance fuck up which has happened before.

And I don't think anything Boeing is doing will result in any change. Even before the Mcdonnel Douglas Merger they have been doing fucked up shaddy stuff. But Airbus has been pretty consistent in not being shitty as well as Embraer and others. I think they really just need to go bankrupt and die, theres nothing to learn from Boeing except not being retarded.

I think a good example of priorities is Airbus on a lot of their newer aircraft have something called the Backup Speed Scale (BUSS) which can provide the pilots a very basic too fast or too slow scale of speed if all of the aircrafts sensors become obstructed in flight and if the Altimeter is displaying abnormal readings they have a GPS based altitude backup. Boeing had two 757's crash in the mid 90's because of chains of events initiated by obstructed sensors at night, yet they still have no such system.

Bro, you can't be confining important news articles like this to the clickbait thread.
According to the Toronto Sun, "Nearby residents said the pair were known as 'big animal lovers.'"

The husband was a former U.S. Navy sailor. The wife had been a nurse until she was reportedly fired on Monday.
