Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

Out of morbid curiosity I just checked my local shelter and out of 77 dogs:

• 5 German Shepherds
• 3 Huskies
• 3 Mutts of unknown origin
• 66 Pit Bulls

God I hate these beasts so fucking much.

Guide dogs can't no chance against pit bulls going on an attack, nor do babies and toddlers. Even grown men struggle to fend off a gripper whose KILL button has been pressed and there's no way to turn it off until the target is dead or the pitbull is dead. The only dogs that stand a chance against pit bulls are the huge and powerful livestock guardians like Kangals who are left alone to deal with wolf packs and yet there is big money in flooding society out with these killers.

:/ idk man, I am not even sure that my Great Pyr is safe around these dogs. They have a tendency to run up on him at the dog park, and they’re the only breed that drew blood on him. Bear reacts, it’s the only time I’ve seen him fight for real, but these dogs were originally bred to attack bulls (it’s right in the name.) there’s plenty of contemporary accounts of these dogs maiming full-size horses and cattle, so idk that any LGD breed has good odds. LGDs are bred to deter normal predators, which have a survival instinct. The average LGD adversary only want an easy meal, whereas your PBT type dog is bred to like fighting for fightings’ sake and to never give up or retreat.

If you live in an area with close neighbors or children, you should need a license/training to own pitbulls. They are quite literally bred to kill and if you don't need those qualities in a dog you should get a different breed. Owning shitbulls should be handled in the same way but to a lesser extent to owning dangerous exotic animals. Expensive and with alot of red tape to prevent your average niggers from doing it, but allowing those who want to to be able to safely.
I wouldn't be opposed to banning them outright either, other than maybe for extremely rural communities.

EDIT: also pitbull owners should be required to carry a gun so they can put down the dog at any moment in an emergency, and should legally be required to do so.

Sadly the people who most want PBTs are the ones least equipped to care for them. I’m on some PBT and adjacent FB groups (eg dog reactivity and aggression groups) and the number of people pleading that Shibbles the uwu soul dog rescue boi killed their cat, what to do, but please don’t suggest training cause I can’t afford it, nor suggest training at home cause I’m too busy, nor suggest rehoming cause it would break my poor heart, nor suggest BE cause I won’t give up on precious shibbles!

You read all that and think, damn, well you better start drinking heavily, and make sure Pibbles drinks too, in the hopes he’s to soused to harm anything, and if he does, you’ll be to soused to care. Enjoy the next 8-10 years living in fear.

To be fair to shelter, they did label the pit bull mixes as just "mixed" instead of falsely labeling them as lab mix, beagle mix, etc.. Obviously it would have been better to label them as pit mixes but at least they didn't lie about them being golden retrievers.

All restricted breeds though, and everyone agrees that those aren't family/urban dogs

I live in a rural area. Mostly coyotes’ interactions with pet dogs centers around trying to lure them into open fields and feasting on them while they howl in pain and terror. If they start fucking pit bulls we are truly screwed.

They don't belong in rural areas either. They just run loose and kill livestock and attack horses and other dogs.

PL but whatever. This happened today. I took my kid to a nice park in a nice area. there were quite a lot of kids and families there. I was chatting with another mom.

When a crackhead came out of the treeline cursing, looking for his dog. A dad had apparently found the crackheads pitbull and handed it to him.

The crackhead proceeded to shout “NOW IM GOING TO FUCK YOU UP” and close fisted beat this dog in front of a now completely silent park full of young children. I could hear the sound of fist beating the stomach of this dog. Followed by the cries of toddlers.

Legally cause the owner lacks the mens rea needed to charge them for murder or manslaughter. Practically, I think it’s a matter of triaging criminals where stupid suburbanites taken in by pit bull propaganda are ranked as low priority compared to other offenders.

It’s highly variable, you hybridize a breed across another and you can get some very different looking offspring.

Unrelated to any particular post, but I find these dogs, while often sold on the premise that they make “great home security” or whatever, are really just ghetto accessories. Which explains why the owners never bother to train them.

In other news, my neighbors have gotten themselves two giant pitbulls. Saw them walking down the street on the other side when I was walking mine. They were pulling towards me and you could hear them wheezing as the collar choked them out. I have been thinking about buying a gun but that sealed it. The owners can barely hold them back and I don't want to risk my buddy getting attacked by a pitbull a third time. Until then, carrying a knife just in case.

Those are almost one of the "it's the owner not the dog" dogs, not because they can't be just as vicious, but because they're expensive, uncommon, and the kind of people who own them know they're dangerous.

Sometimes utter scum own them, like Marjorie Knoller and Robert Noel (who were keeping two presa canarios for a high up Aryan Brotherhood dude Paul Schneider who was already in prison for life). They'd use the dogs to torment their neighbors, thought it was funny, and the dogs eventually ripped someone to shreds.

Keeping such dogs requires a lot of security measures and extreme caution, like keeping a tiger or some other wild animal except worse because even a tiger will usually leave a human alone, while these dogs are trained for fighting. They're also not as brain-dead as shit bulls.

The kind of people who keep shit bulls are usually not fit to keep even a normal dog.
