Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

There's a perfect example of this on the front page today:

  • public transit allows people to move around a city efficiently -> this benefits economy
  • fewer traffic jams -> saved time -> better for economy
These points in conjunction are only true if the there is high ridership, a simple public transit route, and bad traffic.

High ridership has already been addressed so I will focus on a simple route and bad traffic. Just adding in one transfer with a 10 waiting period can make taking the rail inefficient. Regarding traffic, this really does depend on the city itself.

As an example, I grew up in Overland Park, KS and a major employer in the area is Cerner. Yet, at 0830 when traffic should be at its worst, Google does not indicate any significant traffic.
KF FUCK CARS LAPTOP.png

Even if traffic is bad, taking public transit can take just as long as a car. The example below is the travel time in one of the most congested cities in the US, NYC to its public transit system. As you can see both private car travel and public transit have the same amount of travel time.
KF FUCK CARS LAPTOP 2.png
I even steelmanned the Fuck Cars position by using the metro station as the origin point.
  • no need to build massive car infrastructure in a city
Who is building this infrastructure? Highways don't really count as they are for regional travel. They could mean developers but the parking spaces generate economic activity too.
  • more space for businesses and housing
At best, you get marginally more space with narrower streets.
  • more space for sport activities -> save money on healthcare
Perhaps I could drive to the gym in the morning and get a good run in , then head over to my job. I can either jog three miles, get some steps in at work, then go home to walk my dogs or I could be sitting on a train.
  • less pollution and noise -> save money on healthcare
Trains and trollies are plenty noisy. I have addressed this a few pagers ago.
KF FUCK CARS LAPTOP 3.jpg
  • save money on road maintenance
Gas taxes pay for this maintenance. With less driving you get less taxes as such, their would be bot large surplus instead it should be parity.

Almost 23 feet feet even with a more precise rounding. That's getting into box truck territory. So we have a cargo "bike" as long as a small box truck with less speed and cargo capability. Lol. I still think @WelperHelper99's F150 is better fit for the job.
I don't have a F150 lol, but I've driven them plenty and wish I did. Yeah making a bike a truck and loading it full of bricks is asking for trouble.

Update on our best friend from reddit, he's posted that epic maymay about how drumpf is literally hitler. Of course he also couldn't help himself from seething about cars in the comments of another post he made on that sub.
But gas is high faggot and wasn't under Trump. That's fascism to you? Grow a thicker skin.

They also forget to remember that there's a supply and demand curve for these sorts of things too. Parking lots doesn't/didn't exist in cities for no reason--there wasn't enough demand to justify building an office tower or hotel or residential apartment building or whatever, and there's too much commercial real estate as-is, or in the wrong places.

This isn't to say there's "too much retail" (this is often used as a justification as to why we should take our one Walmart/grocery store and be happy with it instead of having a huge mall with department stores and specialty stores) but you can also see this in deteriorating areas, with empty retail and restaurant spaces.

There's of course a convenience aspect too, mixed-use tends to command higher rents but because of that I've seen mixed-use buildings struggle: even before the bottom started falling out on the local mall, an apartment building nearby with mixed-use struggled to keep tenants, with an Italian restaurant and yogurt place pulling out within a few years, and even mixed-use in some dense, walkable areas not able to keep up compared to the traditional strip mall tenants nearby.

As a result, mixed-use buildings and parking-limited areas don't tend to show up in cities as much because no one likes empty buildings...yet urbanists just blame zoning and that any mixed-use building can become an instant success.

People don't like immigrants shitting up their public transportation. But, get this, they ALSO don't like immigrants shitting up their private transportation. Hypocrites much?

infrastructure 1.png

So true, so true. If more foreigners want to come into a country than what its infrastructure can handle, really it's the natives' fault for not having good enough infrastructure. Say it for the people in the back!

per capita.png

More immigrants means more traffic you say? Wait a minute bucko: what if the natives own more cars per capita than the immigrants? That's right, then it doesn't count. Check. And. Mate.

While it depends on the income of the immigrants, many tend to work two or even three jobs. With that mind, having a personal vehicle could be more efficient/ economical as it would take more time to use public transit vs. a personal car.

This whole thread kind of illustrates a very basic problem with these people: they are incapable of understanding that a bad outcome can come from a "good" action.

Obviously, even if you are very pro-immigration, you should realize that unchecked immigration poses a problem. You can't expect to shove ten more fish into a fish tank that is at capacity and expect everything to be hunky dory. But instead of confronting this reality, they lie about it. Everything is fine with this obvious problem with an obvious fucking source, you are just imagining it!

Except you can't argue someone out of a problem they face regularly. That's just gaslighting. And when one side just refuses to listen, they go to another side that does.

But, leftists will call this radicalism. When the people they have not been listening to eventually start talking to the people that do.

I just interpreted another example of their dumb zero sum game mindset. "How can immigrants be fucking up both public AND private transit, obviously immigrants can't use both, can they?"
They view population the same as someone playing City Skylines does, everyone is just a body ether taking up a slot on the street or a slot on the bus. If immigrants are fucking up transit, it must be due to sheer numbers. Ignoring the fact that it only takes a few lunchtime rowdies to ruin public transportation and immigrants are frequently pretty bad drivers which can amplify their impact on traffic. Remember, these are the people who think that you can't build walking or bike paths that are safe and don't interfere with car traffic, every strode built is a bike lane lost to them.

Canada's housing crisis is due to their unlimited immigration policy, not because of urban sprawl. The federal government and all large city governments there are run by urbanists.

Apparently requiring a traffic study and public comment makes "makes it almost impossible to convert a car lane to a bus lane or a bike lane". According to Jason, if you don't let unaccountable bureaucrats redesign your city, you hate freedom.

He also left out that bill tells the Florida Rail Enterprise to invest in high-speed rail:

It also makes it a crime for cyclists to ignore railroad crossings:

Ha ha, that's not going to be an issue since every traffic study according to urbanists seems to support bicycles/mass transit, right? Right? :)

There's a hidden video not in this playlist, an older version of his "we won't raise our kids in suburbia" video.

There's nothing noteworthy about that one, but something a little more noteworthy is there's a video that appears to be completely lost in which he talks about Sinterklaas and Dutch Christmas traditions in general, in which he, a Canadian, comes in and tells another country about how horribly racist they're being. He also uses it as a reason to take more potshots at "ignorant Americans" who I'm increasingly convinced he's made up in his brain.

He is such a distilled stereotype of the Canadian with an inferiority complex who constantly seethes about a country that barely even registers his existence.

Motorcycles aren't talked about very often but when they do, they seethe. (4chan /n/ archive).
As expected of /n/iggers.

Looks like it got deleted somehow, it's not in his record. (Also he got auto-rejected from McDonald's, lol).

Gosh, so many things wrong with that. First is the shifting use of the word "efficient", public transit is only efficient when full, not actually making things work better. You can't also have more businesses because for every business you need them to be supplied properly (with big trucks and stuff) unless you want things to be stupidly expensive because they can't get it there by normal truck (Manhattan, isolated places like islands).

The other thing is assuming that more people = better. I've brought up Delhi before. On paper, it looks like a winner. Twice as dense as Tokyo. Second largest city in the world. And it has serviceable rail transit. Reality is it's not even the best economy in India because of a massive poverty problem, and a shithole both metaphorically and in the literal sense.

Plus, there isn't actually a functional city that they describe that works the way they imagine. Tokyo has an extensive road network with elevated highways in downtown. Amsterdam has wide avenues and numbered highways. New York City may have low car ownership but rely heavily on a taxi system.

This is not even getting into the "externalities" part, which is literally "fuck you, that's why" reasoning.

They also hate the idea of grade seperated infrastructure because it's benefits apply to all types of traffic, and since that would logically include road vehicles they vehemently despise it despite it being the best solution for urban mobility, price notwithstanding.

This has got to be one of the biggest factors that make them useless, self-defeating faggots. Grade separating the different types of traffic would make everything better for all those different types. But because cars would benefit, no, we can't have any grade separation at all. Don't you dare build a pedestrian bridge over that busy urban intersection Don't you dare put bike paths on separate corridors to the main streets, with under and over passes to prevent at-grade crossings. Don't you dare build an elevated section of highway with higher speed limits, exclusive for cross-town busses and high-occupancy cars. None of that can be allowed, because it doesn't punish cars.

The phrase "cutting off one's nose to spite one's face" comes to mind.
