A major incident is unfolding at a major Sydney shopping centre, with reports of a stabbing and at least one gun man on the loose.

Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney's eastern suburbs is in lockdown after the incident on Saturday afternoon.

Panicked people were seen running across the pedestrian bridge outside the centre in video posted to social media while others said they were being evacuated from the centre's car park.

Police are attending the scene in massive numbers.

Eastern suburbs local Ted Helliar posted to X: 'Something just went down at Westfields Bondi junction.'

'We were up there and all of a sudden all these people running towards us. Next thing dozens and dozens of people all running a screaming some bloke yells 'someone is stabbing everyone get out of here'.'

Another X user said hundreds of shoppers were hiding in the back of the David Jones department store, which had pulled down its shutters with reports a man had been seen running with a gun in the centre.

A police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Saturday afternoon that a major police operation is under way and officers were gathering details at the scene.

Bloody surreal - he really was just running around with a knife

Looks like the police did kill him

The minimum quota of deaths required to get an " All Australians' hearts are with the victims" statement from the PM, it seems, is a measly 6.

Yesterday that was a mass-stabbing perpetrated by children against other children [edit: the media is referring to them as kids but the victims were 18 and 19] right in front of a school, one dead and two others considerably injured. Absolute zip from national authorities then. Was the NSW or Australian education minister out there giving a token statement? Nope.

edit: Also Australian reporting is retarded and I hope all Australian journos and posters in this thread lose their jobs to AI or neck themselves - the shooting was police killing the murderer.

People keep saying this but it was a shopping centre not a synagogue lol
I'm not entirely sold this was specifically an anti-Jewish attack because it does just look like a nutter with a knife but it's indisputably a very Jewish area

Part of the suburb is within an Eruv

which is basically a magic wall that lets Orthodox Jews find loopholes to carrying things on the Sabbath, so there must be a lot of Jews in the area for them to bother maintaining the Eruv in that bit.

We are also meant to care because it's Bondi and the whole country revolves around Sydney (specifically the eastern suburbs).

News reporting in Aus has gotten so emotive focused, it's all about big scary Youth Crime, and dumb things like "omg they took a magpie off a social media couple how bad is the government". Anything other than news designed to make you think.

-insert autism post about Murdoch media and Fairfax and Newscorp here-

We act big scared about state sponsored media in N Korea or China or Russia but the state sponsored media is already here. "You will believe what we want you to believe."

To be fair youth crime is an issue, but they focus more on it in NSW and Vic than where it's a huge issue which is obviously Darwin. But for there they reverse the reporting to how fucked it is that so many abo kids get arrested etc etc. I mean they literally had to implement a youth curfew for the place, and the ABC of all joints was interviewing residents who said there was so many less issues now.

Oh definitely its a major problem, but it's only focused on now because kids are stealing cars from rich inner city suburbs and joyriding in them. The canary in the coalmine has been the years of youth issues in regional Australia (ice epidemic, lack of jobs, Alice Springs curfew, "noooo don't take my kids off me even though I'm out getting drugged up every weekend and I let think uncle sexually abuse them"). But we'd rather stay in the "whities are bad" mentality rather than certain groups taking responsibility for why their own keep fucking up. When even the abos are going "hey yeah this curfew thing works" how can it be a "whitey racist" issue. Sure we brought the grog to them but no one made them drink it and rip the floorboards out of their government provided houses.

But it's not until something bad happens to the city folks that the media cares. It's not until it happens in Sydney or in a highly Jewish area that the media cares. This has been a problem coming for decades.
