Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
So, with all this talk about gameplay and such, I was curious; what jobs are you guys thinking about running in Dawntrail? Going to try and run one of the new jobs, or stick to one you already know? Excited or curious about any job changes?
Normally I like to play the box art job so I'd pick Viper this time around, but I also usually just like to hit the MSQ immediately so I'll probably just play WAR through the MSQ. Ultimately I plan on leveling everything but I wanna do more PF healing so I'll probably put a lot of focus into WHM.

Not super excited about job changes as they already told us the overall job design principles won't be changing until after level 100. I'm more excited for crafting and gathering content as that's the kind of stuff I can sink a lot of time into and the lack of anything like Ishgard Resto for EW felt extremely shitty.

Yeah, I'm still undecided on my Dawntrail job myself; still in the process trying to decide on jobs for my alt. I am actually kinda interested in Pictomancer, but there's a chance I'll just continue maining Ninja instead; fell in love with that job, and I'm having too much fun on it for now.

I find it ironic when all of the people I know who still play WoW trash talk the benchmark and how bad the graphics are while they sit there and stare at their WoW classic character for 17 hours a day.
If it's not ultra, hyper realistic graphics it's mid. Meanwhile they allow WoW to get away with everything and anything "because because buuuuh buuuh muh nostalgia!"
Complete clownery.

Benchmark is up btw: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/benchmark/

Says endwalker but clicking it will bring you to DT benchmark

Used the benchmark, got the score 12133, "very high". Seems like I'll make it another expansion without needing to upgrade my pc.

25k at maximum on my system @ 31:9. Looks better in person for sure, particularly the color grading. I'll probably be able to turn that part of my reshade off now. Also better Ambient Occlusion which I don't remember them mentioning in the LL. Someone mentioned noticing more of a diff since they've been playing since ARR: I'm an FFXI oldfag, so I do notice a difference, it just isn't groundbreaking stuff and I think they've overhyped it a bit.

As for Dawntrail jobs, I level and dabble in them all but will probably continue to main RDM unless Pictomancer blows my ass out. I like the concept of a Geomancer/Blue Mage hybrid since they did BLU so dirty in this game.

I got a bad score because I didn't tweak my settings. I just wanted to see my furry in action lmao. Pretty happy with how she turned out.

Edit:

Had to remake her from scratch. I don't play FF14 on PC, I play it on console so she was saved there. Still noticeable difference even with all the lowest settings on.

Sitting with only 6 Shadowbringer fish away from all of them and got my Splendorous Fishing Rod in the meantime.

I can't tell if it's me or just luck, but Shadowbringers fish have this problem of not showing up; where I'll go through hundreds of casts before I even get a bite (and not to mention the escape rate). Even the few basic ones without any weather or time requirements end up eating 200-300 pieces of bait and I've seriously drained my scrips because even some of the most basic fucking fish end up costing 1,000+ scrips when there's nothing fucking special about them.

"30+ buttons seems like a lot... I hope they streamline the buttons."
"Why are these story boss fights so hard? It's not very new player friendly."

And these are people who "just want to get to endgame." No wonder PF quality has declined so much.
The number of people who can't divide their attention, even in downtime is frightening at times. Got a Tam-Tara Hard, get to the first boss and because this boss and her mechanic is seared into my fucking mind; I always, always, FUCKING ALWAYS say something like "Adds have no threat meter, don't attack them, whoever get marked with AOE, run to the adds." Now I can tell Square-Enix toned a lot of older content down, but despite this, we still managed to wipe 2 times; and during the second wipe, I'm all-capsing in chat saying what not to do... and you know what the retard fucking tank's problem is, that I'm all-capsing, with no introspection about spamming AOE on the adds and killing us and he can't fucking look at chat all the time. I really hate MMO elitists, because I don't find MMOs to have a high skill ceiling compared to other games, so I'm not gonna go all elitist, but there needs to be certain checks to fucking keep people out of shit they fail to understand. I can appreciate a fast dungeon, but I prefer a team who understands mechanics more.

Got a decent score I guess for the benchmark. I'll pick up DT eventually on PC since I tend to play on console.

Happy as fuck with how my FemRoe looks though. A little annoyed I couldn't use her actual hairstyle in character creation but she still looks incredible.

That's fishing for ya. It's a giant RNG fest. You can do everything in your power to prepare to catch whatever fish you're hunting and RNG will just decide to fuck you in the ass and make you waste all your bait and all your scrips so that you continue to fail while you have to wait a week before the specific weather will spawn at a specific time of day for you to even make another attempt.

That actually happened to be the other day. Every time I get Hard Tam, there is a 99% chance we wipe at least once because there is always a new person, and no one ever pays attention to chat when I tell them not to touch the adds and that the boss will kill them with a targeted AOE. We go in and guess what, the moment the adds spawn, they just start reflexively killing them and causing a wipe or if that doesn't happen, the jackass with the AOE stands there or runs around like a fucking idiot instead of taking the AOE to the adds like I instruct them to. I should seriously start making macros specifically for morons where I spam a bunch of sound effects to draw their toddler brained attention to.

I've liked the forehead gems on the Viera but they've always looked too bright. I'm glad they got toned down/better with the new lighting.

At least my retarded lizard man looks the same.

I just ran it on their "maximum" settings and didn't change anything.

I’ve thought of leveling up dark knight because I want a job change.

I expect all you addicts to loredump about how shitty the MSQ is when the xpac finally hits. (Or if it turns out to be actually decent despite all odds, I, too, want to know. Gameplay I know it's never going to get better for BRD, so it's pretty much a take it or leave it kind of deal.)

I've had an Adeleine glam for like 6 years now, I have to run pictomancer.

If I play I always start with the new box class, if viper isn't fun through I'll fall back on reaper or samurai.
I'd eventually level them all to 100 though, unless the max level reward is even worse than Endwalker's.

Considering there wont be any job changes other than more button bloat I don't find anything to be excited about. I'm skipping Dawntrail for the foreseeable future. I can't imagine calling it quit for good, but other than the MSQ Dawntrail has literally nothing new in it so I don't see the point. It's not like the MSQ is going anywhere.
