You know what? Fuck you, I hope you and your family have a great day.

This is the kind of spiteful compassion that I aspire to every day when I wake up at 5:40 AM and get ready for work.

Also, oddly enough, that Ralph Waldo Emerson quote I posted really stuck with me since yesterday.

Yeah guys, live not to be happy, but to be compassionate to your fellow kiwi. Leave your mark on the world better than it was when you were pushed out the womb like a 3-day-old turd log.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday. Even if the weather's absolute shit where you are in the world.

Ask for the services of a UX designer to study how people use your site and work on aligning your ideas with what works for the user base as a balance. They design functionality that is required to accomplish certain objectives you (and the users) care about with no other emotion involved. Just getting a job done.

"user stories" they call them. As (person) I want to (do task) so I can (complete objective). As a user I want to customise my notifications on sign up so I can focus on content and not reactions. As a site owner I want to see research that demonstrates what functionality creates frequent engagement of good quality so that I know what needs addressing. Etc. It's interesting, fun, and useful to approach things in this manner.

UX designers study user behaviour and suggest what would solve the problems everyone has so you do not create or remove features unnecessarily which would waste your time/energy and create dissatisfaction for everyone. There will be one here that is good at understanding how to organise your users and their experience for you so you don't have to micromanage it. You can have your cake and eat it too. Make an announcement about it and see who would be willing to help you.

You are stubborn in many good ways, but I think the help of this specific person would lessen your annoyance if you had them to give you earnest research, testing, and feedback. If not useful now, it would be very useful in the redesign to have that information sitting there for guidance. You have a unique site and there is room for more coolness if you are willing to explore better ways of navigation and presenting content that currently frustrate you and/or the users. You don't have to accept their recommendations but I think it would help. @Null

P. S. YouTube influencer designers will not give you a lot of insight into their process, but this guy gives an idea of what approaches they use to make recommendations. You may find this interesting. https://youtu.be/fYs2Mdyasuc

So don't fucking lecture me that I'm taking away a beloved feature with no downside. I want to fucking strangle you fucking faggots. I've been dealing with you dumb mongoloid pieces of shit and your fucking sticker fetish for over 5 fucking years and I am done. No more notifications. Figure out something else.
I respectfully disagree but I still love you.
