Serious question. What autism? What complaints were there prior to the removal of functionality?
I want to put something into perspective.
We have a dedicated warning for ratings. Of all the items on this list, this is the oldest warning that has never been changed.
This adds you to a group with one permission change: no ratings.
There are currently 119 users banned from ratings. This does not include users who have been banned from ratings and are now unbanned because of a time expiration.
Further, there are 174 users who are warned (actively and formerly) with this warning. This does not include users who had the group applied manually.

The word "rating" appears in the report table over 1000 times.

Do you know why this happens? Because of the notifications. It's not the post ratings. It's that when the button is pressed, that user is instantly given indication that they've been downvoted on a post.
It has been repeatedly instructed to me over and over again that breaking "UX" that people are already used to is bad design, that I am fighting human nature. No, human nature is emotional and fickle. Human nature is seeing that Hitler rated your post in the Cheese thread "dumb" and getting upset, reporting him for 'revenge rating', opening Hitler's post history and rating his posts "dumb" so that he also gets notifications in kind. Human nature is creating brand new accounts for the sole purpose of rating Hitler's posts "dumb" so that he can't obviously see that it's you doing it, which he may report to me as being a potential sock account so I have to actually investigate this.
Don't believe me? We have another category called Introduced User.
What does this do? It takes you off mod queue and allows you to rate posts. Why does it exist? Because it adds an effort/difficulty buffer between registration and rating Hitler's posts dumb. Guess why that is needed.
People want to talk and they don't want to deal with bullshit that impedes their talking. That's why they scurry off to DMs or Discord. Do I think that is correct? No, I wish people just used the system as designed and didn't care. That's not what human nature is though.
So don't fucking lecture me that I'm taking away a beloved feature with no downside. I want to fucking strangle you fucking faggots. I've been dealing with you dumb mongoloid pieces of shit and your fucking sticker fetish for over 5 fucking years and I am done. No more notifications. Figure out something else.
