I remember feeling very surprised when Phyllis obtained subsidized housing so quickly.

I know nothing about her, her finances or anything else save that, if my memory isn’t totally shot, she is either suspected of having or does have, the same lung issues her mother did. I apologize for not remembering the name.., not braining well today.

The criteria for public housing here are primarily financial; the stereotypical, cat food eating frail widow is the classic example.

The other stereotypical applicants are single moms, wives with or without kids fleeing abuse, the disabled poor and last but not least, the homeless; often with addiction issues.

How criteria are weighted can vary a bit in various jurisdictions but Although I don’t understand what criteria Phyllis meets, she got in fast for someone not fleeing abuse… REALLY fast.

Chantal… as it stands now, I can’t see her meeting criteria. Even with her smaller pay cheques recently, other applicants have far less money.

She’s unhealthy, most of her health issues stemming from her own behaviour but again, many many others are far sicker.., at this point.

She has no starving children, is not fleeing abuse and I can’t think of any boxes she ticks as high priority.

Sure, she can get on a wait list, if she chooses that path and IF she’s willing to put up with the intrusiveness as well as the endless paperwork.

Most subsidized housing is based on you paying no more than 30% of your monthly income on rent. So every month, there’s paperwork to do to prove income level. Can’t be bothered to do it and/or on time? Punt!

I really don’t think this is what she’s trying to do. That would be an admission of FAIL too far for her.

Haven’t watched her last 2 videos yet but I will, to try and determine where she’s at.

I suspect that for the first time in a long time, she’s truly caught between a rock and a hard place,

Restaurants do not serve takeout containers, it is likely that Gunt lies about it because she cannot differentiate between packing leftover food from restaurants and takeaway food from a stall through a car or the receptionist table from a fast food chain. She just think both are the same, and think if she lies about this, she can get her shitting ass away from this blatant easily debunked lie.

I doubt very much that Chantal has ever filed taxes in her entire life. She probably had taxes withheld, when she had the occasional legit job. But there is nothing in her history, character, behavior, or words that suggest she has ever had the wherewithal to actually fill out paperwork and submit it on time for anything, let alone taxes.

I've known American people like her. Never filed a return in their lives. Taxes were withheld if they received a paycheck, but no returns filed. Many work for themselves, so nothing was withheld, and they owed taxes like Chinny does.

Then, usually in their forties or fifties, something comes up where they need to file a return, like buying a house. They turned themselves in to the IRS asking to make things right, and the IRS only put them on the hook for five years + the current year. They didn't bother asking for returns or taxes that were over 6 years old; they just ceased to exist. So in a way, some of them got away for decades without ever paying a cent in taxes. They were never contacted by the IRS, never audited. The people I am referring to were small-fry; most of them earned around $30k a year or less and owned almost no assets. I assume if they were making hundreds of thousands a year, the IRS might not have been so forgiving. They did have to pony up six years' worth of back taxes, with interest. But they got away with shit for an awful long time. The only price they will pay is that they may not qualify for much social security when they retire, since little was withheld.

I don't know how Canada handles chronic non-filers, but assuming they come clean with the agency themselves and don't have to be hunted down, similar arrangements may exist. In which case, she could just wait a few more years for her biggest earning years to be behind her, and she might wind up with a (relatively) small tax bill in the mid-five digits or so. The $200K she made from crackhead Olympics may very well wind up being forgotten.

She’d have to have filed at least once because her first bankruptcy was discharged, and taxes owed are part of that. Her taxes had to be completed for the undischarged second bankruptcy, and I’d believe they were eventually worked out for the hearing…but maybe not and that’s why the second one hasn’t been discharged.

I know in the past Australia tended to deal with serial tax avoiders in similar ways. A couple of times they did amnesties, meaning people only needed to go back 5 years, and no penalties were charged. The logic was that it was better to get something and get these people back in the system than get nothing at all, because there was no way for the tax office to prove their income. This though was prior to all the data matching they can do now. They can look at bank accounts, any deposits or withdrawals here over 10k must be reported, employers records are directly filed to the ATO at financial years and self employed must register a business and lodge quarterly returns. The only real way to avoid paying taxes is to work in the cash economy. Sure there are folk that still do that, particularly house cleaners, backyard mechanics and the like, but the majority that used to work in the tradie cash market can’t get away with it these days because of licensing and compliance laws for most trade work.

Chantal’s bank records will tell the story to the CRA. She won’t be able to hide her income if it’s going into a Canadian bank account. If she did have a payment agreement with the CRA prior to going to Kuwait (she claims she did), and she’s not making those payments, then they’ll give her no grace when they catch her.
