I prefer the HH lore and setting so I’m fine, it’s literally the brotherman vs brotherman game so I know that won’t be fucked with.

Modern 40k has been shit for awhile, this is nothing new but importantly, I’m not going anywhere. I paint, I listen to audio books/read and might get a game in once a month. I’m not getting ran out of this hobby, I’ve already put money down on by a bunch of soggy underpaid Black Library writers.

I mean, its less digging my heels and more this feels like a huge bag of nothing. Like, I think the Pramaris shit was worse (because it was badly set up and explained) when Smurf dad was brought back in 7th edition (Im amazed people forgot how early he was brought back), the whole Fem!Custodes feels like nothing. Fuck, they didnt even make some massive annoucenement on this, its a blurb in a Custodes codex, which people are busy trashing because how hard the army got nerfed.

This I can agree with. Primaris is a shit ton more damaging to the setting as a concept than femstodes. It's just that the "current climate" makes me notice patters and primaris is not a new pattern, it's just GW doing another one of their cashgrabs to sell more plastic, femstodes on the other hand is pure virtue signalling. And I've seen too many times how things devolve when virtue signaling suddenly becomes the priority.

Could end up being nothing, or it could end up being that half the lore is written by the same faggots that ruined comic books and you have the equivalent of "wow, will Superman's bisexual son hook up with the cute asian boy with pink hair?"

Not leaving. The modern trend of lore rape started with Horus Rising in 2006 and it's been the better part of two decades and immeasurably many BL excretions since then; they'll need to do worse to get rid of me entirely. I'd tentatively say that FSM would be the red line, but we'll see when the day arrives.

I'll stick around. I'm still to this day expanding my first born Blood Angels, and a small wargaming group has popped up in my area. They're all cool so I would like to see the small community we have going on stick around and grow.

Regarding all the more recent retcons Gee Dubya did to the lore, I personally find the whole Femstodes affair to be among the least egregious examples.

I see it less as a "stick it in there and see if they bite" and more as "I hope this makes the 'female space marine' crowd shut up" sort of deal. You are right that there is no real commitment, if there were we would have had a dyke haircut model come along with it in a fancy base like that sigmarine release. But it also shows that "they can be pushed around", so I expect the deranged crowd to see this as a sign that they can keep asking for shit to subvert 40K and once a company shows a crack, it tends to just fold like a deck of cards due to not being able to enforce any sort of red lines.

Fair point, but counterpoint, Batman getting his back broken for the 5th time while the Joker is now Batman would be an absolutely retarded plot thread, but it's at least still tangentially related to something that may interest the "original" fans, it still has batman, it has the joker, it has crime fighting. I like the lore, I like the setting, I like the aesthetics. I like painting. It managed to get me back to being religious funnily enough. 40k has gotten big enough with enough issues you can just wholesale disregard a bunch of shit. I mostly do kill team and dark heresy with irl friends who share similar views so it’s like I’m pulling my hair out. I might even get into that kill team fan mod for HH or the HH epic (all 3rd party so GW doesn’t see a dime). The major breaking point is whenever I’ll do LGS or tournaments, which tbh I don’t do a whole lot of so there’s no problem. For now I’m just treating the lore and GW like tranny shit demanding I recognize their pronouns.
