Reading this post reminded me of this review I saw on Amazon.

I hate nigger cattle like this so much it's almost unreal.
LOL, what's funny is this idiot almost has a point but is going about it the wrong way. yes, GW minis are expensive and overpriced. It's 5 cents worth of injection molded plastic, for which the molds even if they cost 100k were amortized ages ago(considering the ages of some of these things) being sold at $10+ a mini for a 2 inch tall plastic dude that you still have to paint. However, in the words of George Carlin "Hobbies cost money, interests are quite free". The simple reality is, plenty of other hobbies cost as much if not far more than 40k.
Anything related to vehicles or motorsports is going to be costing you more in tools, track fees, maintenance, etc. than 40k will.
Sports. other than maybe some bullshit like pickleball, most sports that require more than a pair of shoes and some workout clothes will have a large cost associated with it.
Outdoor activities. Fishing, hunting, target shooting, camping/backpacking, hiking. These things all have large associated costs for equipment and travel.
Vidya games. Consoles are $400+. Video cards that aren't a potato are $1000+ now. And they go obsolete quicker than GW squats minis.
Art. Yep, art. Takes up space, has a material cost just like painting minis(usually a better ratio of cost for the volume of paint but that's a separate topic with regards to painting minis). Clay, canvas, all that shit costs money. Need someone else's studio space or a kiln? Costs money.
Music. Instruments, lessons, the shit costs money. Digital music? Still need controllers and software(which you could pirate) that costs money.
Collecting/consooming. Coins, stamps, gold, comics, cards, etc. Unless you're just collecting random river rocks, this shit costs money and occupies space.
Home chemistry.. have to buy equipment and supplies.
RC vehicles from drones and planes to cars and rock crawling trucks. This shit gets expensive over time, assuming you didn't simply start with expensive shit.
