Warhammer 40k

Shortsighted.

The Lore of the game is the lowest barrier of entry. People see a picture of the God Emperor with Donald Trumps head shopped on it, and then wonder wtf that is. So they go to youtube or tik tok or whatever, and then discover this hectic wargame thing.

30 years of story telling for the little plastic models has snowballed into something that is on the cusp of literal cultural transcendence. And its about to get murdered in the cradle by people who view everything as political. The "Lore Chuds" will be the first to go. They won't be the last.
You mean this?

That didn't matter back in 2017 when they raped the lore with Primaris Marines. Their stock prices surged. So no, raping the lore doesn't hurt their bottom line at all.
well then this might not and itll continue as a piece of shit im not involved in and were fucked ig and its over and itll just be a thing i walk past wondering "dunno how its popular guess it is unfortunately"
Unintentionally. Now they're correcting that.
i feel like the only unintentional part was people didnt say "woah thats just like [current right wing political movement]" i mean if it wasnt i feel like theyd have just said fuck it female space marines.
then giving Custodes birth canals won't scare them away.
if it were literally just "theres femstodes" that is a smaller thing. thats not all its going to be and you know it. if you dont know that then idk what to tell you but then wed just repeat ourselves because id think something more would come and you wouldnt.

I think they mean this one.

I'm not against buying books as I have multiple shelves full myself, but why would you brag about not buying their minis but still buying their books.
There were a lot of guys at my LGS back in 2004-2010 that’d buy codexes whenever they came out so they’d know what their opponents were doing.
Facebook's used mini groups are a goldmine. Just put your Jew nose on, and have some fun finding bargains.
You can find a lot of people willing to cut their losses with armies and the money you’d save can go to some purple power or LA’s awesome cleaner.

It won't. If these people didn't walk away when GW was gouging their wallets, then it stands to reason that a Custodes with a birth canal won't make them walk away.

The Trump-era meme spergs are almost as annoying as the lifers who swallow anything GW shits into their mouths.
I think they mean this one.

Damn, I feel like an old man, knowing it's almost 8 years ago when that shit started popping up.

Also I know they just wanna keep selling me the same tank models but seriously the imperium should have tanks that don't look like chunk of the asset mixtures of World War 2 and World War One tanks
I started with 3rd edition, so I honestly like how archaic yet futuristic the empire feels. It's one of the bigger appeals thematics wise.
I know xenophobia funny and all but seriously the imperium used to be a lot more reasonable when it came to diplomacy in the old editions.
You starting with Rogue Trader is really showing now

I'll add these quotes here

They made the Imperium more radically xenophobic because they wanted to whine about how religious and military conservatives are intolerant. That's why they made the Catholic Space Nazis super intolerant, even though historically, Catholic Imperialists were far more racially tolerant than America was in the 1950s.
Pretty much this first, they started with "the future TATCHER WILL CREATE IF NOT STOPPED!" and they just dialed it up a notch. It just turned out that...
lefties suck at satire to the point they dont realize they often accidentally make their opposition look fun or inviting hence all the settings where the nazis won and its paradise for everyone except the scant freaks who want to fuck little boys. the point stands that retconning it then created one of the most famous aspects instead of this one which makes it more samey
what came out of it was hilarious and awesome. Even if it's supposed to be a parody, in universe the xenophobia is very fucking serious business and for the most part a necessity for survival. When your empire covers god knows how many planets and systems, you need very strong internal cohesion to not be subverted at the drop of a hat. It's also one of the very few settings where "be weary of the other" is even a thing. We live int he candyland of hug thine enemy while they stab you, having a setting where everything is not about going into a campfire and singing cumbaya is more and more refreshing with every passing year due to how gay it all is.

Also, very classic 40K was just punk in space at that point by shoehorning fantasy into a sci fi setting. Basically early Shadowrun before it cemented it's own identity. If it had stayed like in Rogue Trader, I doubt very much it would have the same staying power.

and if they wanted to make female space marines you can make one of the missing primarchs female and having all female legion.
No, fuck that shit. The custodes are already...
its the inch before a mile,
Add a dommy mommy Primarch and I assure you in record time the setting will devolve in who wants to fuck what and everything will be "good guys vs THA NAZIS!". That idea might have flown 15 years ago, but today I know very well what it fucking means. As for why this is the straw for a lot of people? Probably because they are not bliand and or deaf and have seen the death of Star Wars, Star Trek, Dungeons and Dragons, Magic, comic books, anime dubbing and so many others, when the woke shit starts coming it, it never gets better. Primaris are a travesty, but they are still related to the world and atmosphere, seeing "steamy love stories with Yarrik being gay" not so much, and the last few pages where that discussion was happening is what I definitely do not want the setting devolve into.
I never got their insistence on pointless, waste of money side games (Legiones Imperialis, Titanicus, Aeronautica) when Battlefleet (with support) could make a wonderful companion to 40k

Make /yourdudes/ flagship and fleet/iconic vessels, include parts like god marks and parts for CSM, battle damage parts, imbedded boarding pods and transfers galore.

I’d love to recreate /mydudes/ warship, “The Favoured Son” as a mini.
Got to stop you there chief, I do remember being fascinated by it when it came out and reading the rulebook, it also probably sold like absolute ass, hence why it's dead and never coming back. That you enjoyed a specific niche game doesn't mean it has actual traction. Only one that ever seemed to have any real staying power is Blood Bowl. We are also very far away from the time where GW experimented more, no Inquisitor any time soon either and any new game they sell must be able to be packaged as a board game AND if possible, be used as a lure to get people into another game by double dipping a bit. BFG can cover the first requirement, but the second not so much. At most it will get something like the Man O War revival thing from like... a decade ago? and that was a one off that went nowhere.
I hated it too. The C'Tan were pretty interesting to me, but now they're just fucking useless. There's no horror to modern Necrons for me - it's like the Replicators in Stargate: SG-1 all over again.

That is a very fair point. The necron's themselves getting personality doesn't give me strong opinions one way or the other today, but the C'Tan got absolutely butchered. I remember how they were this primordial forces of cosmic power that were dormant and were kind of like architects of the worlds like The Ancients... and now they are just prisoners of the quirky robots.

Came across an old box of White Dwarfs the other day. Honestly the signs of decline were there when they debuted the weebie Tau in '01.
I don’t think anyone who unironically liked those god emperor trump pictures actually played.

Leftists really suck at satire. I've said this before, but guys like Rorschach and Judge Dredd, and factions like the 40K Imperium, become so beloved by the fans because they represent something primal, something universally human, that the leftists fail to grasp themselves. Rorschach was created as basically a stereotype of every right-wing nutcase made into a hero, but instead, people see a man who fights for justice objectively and who does not back down no matter the odds. Same goes for the Imperium, where they're portrayed originally to be as much of a problem as the aliens and the Chaos demons, but instead, they become humanity's shield against both, becoming a beacon of hope in a galaxy gone mad.

This is because leftists think their subversion of conservative tropes will be universally embraced by the public. Turns out, that's not the case, and people like powerful guys putting threats down instead of listening to Marxist garbage about how THE MAN is the source of all your problems.

I don’t think anyone who unironically liked those god emperor trump pictures actually played.
Fuck no. Most of those guys are just memers who don't have the wealth or the time to build a single army, let alone play the fucking game.

I don't think so. In the real world outside of the internet, the culture war is a sideshow compared to the real struggle of people trying to find jobs and being able to afford shit, which has been going on for more than a decade. Yet the GW whales didn't leave despite all the price hikes. The whales never cared about the setting; they just play the game the same way kids play the Pokemon TCG without knowing who the fuck Ash Ketchum is.

The whales will keep on buying, GW will keep pushing the franchise into the dirt, and the leftists within the fanbase will be glad that they've ''retaken'' the franchise, considering the fact that the original GW 40K writers wrote the series in the first place because they're bitching about how people like Thatcher and Reagan are Nazis. Now, they're retaking the series from chuds who made their own interpretation of it. But the whales who actually buy the slop and make up their own stories don't give a flying shit, since lore changes can be ignored.

It will never stop being funny how Alan Moore was baffled that people latched onto Rorschach. Dredd I only have the cliffnotes since I never actually read anything but I imagine it's the same story. "UwU, you can't have police brutality!" while they set up a world where you NEED police brutality to even function.

I'm not talking about the mongrels that will gorge on shit and smile, I'm talking about my personal enjoyment of things going forward. The culture war may not be much of a factor for a lot of people till apathy hits, but I've seen it play out too many times and I still very much hate it.

Sort off, Dredd operates on such hyper insanity that people get the whole satire aspect or more a dark comedy actuall. I mean, this is the same settinh that has vampires, cloned soldiers who carry their concious in special chips, and Judges from a parrarel reality where they have gained supernatural abilities and came to Dredds reality to "fix stuff" by brutally murdering everyone.

Every time Warhammer 40K has a gay drama. It proves Warhammer Fantasy. The original series was always a better written setting and has more consistent tone. Warhammer fantasy is dark fantasy a without a lot of the political trappings of 40K and shitting Tolkien. Warhammer fantasy still heroism and optimistic for such a dark setting. Warhammer 40K was memed as an edgy, accidental right learning setting when Fantasy still hanging on too chaotic evil monster races and shockingly pro-religious for British fiction. Hell fantasy orcs are still a politically incorrect hybrid between a fantasy Vikings and fantasy Islamic culture.1713523831139.jpeg1713523906335.jpeg

I see the appeal for them as a smaller compact ideal game where you spend much less but they’re less your dudes or army. So yeah if GW needs bits kits if they ever want hope of beating 3D printers and the like.

Also side rant, not sure what the point of Solar Auxilla models are in HH. The whole appeal of HH was brother against brother in an era of myth and legend.

If anything, if GW returns to BFG, it's going to be set in the Heresy, with more models per fleet, no xenos and, of course, Gloriana spam.

... yep, definitely don't know shit about Judge Dredd. Does new Dredd content still come out? Had it devolved like everything in the last 5-10 years? I am aware there is a miniature game but since I'm not invested in Dredd, never gave it more than a pacing glance.

I think the comics are atill coming out, dunno about the Minis game, but Im guessing its probably like Necromunda or somethin. There was one Judge Dredd game called Dredd vs Death (as in the badguy is literally called Judge Death).

HH is the war of humanity caving in on itself, there’s more than marines, there’s Mechanicum (loyal and traitor), militia/cults, daemons and the Auxilla is a retconned in force of humans attached to Astartes forces.
